Today we’d like to introduce you to BreeAnna Butts.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey into the beauty industry didn’t begin as most do. I grew up wanting to be a financial planner, but as the time for me to go to a traditional four-year college approached, I began to realize that my vision for the future had changed. Rather than spending my days sitting behind a desk planning for other peoples futures, I wanted something different for myself.
I wasn’t sure what this future looked like for me but I did know that I loved two things… music and make-up. I thought the idea of doing make-up on music video sets seemed like a dream job. As I did my research on academy’s, I began to realize that being a professional make-up artist and a licensed cosmetologist would serve me best in this industry and I chose a school that offered both.
Once I began classes, I quickly realized that rather than my focus being on make-up, doing hair was actually my JAM! I loved the structure in the processes, and the freedom it allowed me to showcase my creativity.
From the beginning of my time behind the chair, it has been important for me to equip myself with the best available education and skill set to allow me to perfect my craft. Constantly trying to level up and grow, I take every class I can and to this day, I am just as committed to education as I have been since day one. The more knowledge I have under my belt, the more confident I feel behind the chair.
Throughout my journey, I realized that a jack of all trades is a master of none and my true passion and expertise lie in creating that perfect California blonde… bright, natural and the just right amount of lived in.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest obstacle I have faced in my career would be the stories I have created in my head that put limitations on my progress. This has caused a lot of strife and has slowed my growth. I continually work on removing these emotions from my business, I believe that I can crush ANY goal if I put in the work, focus on getting out of my own way, believe in my abilities and know my worth.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My constant need for growth lead me to the Big Money Stylist Podcast. In an industry full of burnt out stylists, slaving behind the chair, their content felt like oxygen to me. The philosophy behind Natural Beaded Rows extensions is about empowering stylists to know that they are not only artists but entrepreneurs. Businesswomen taking back the power and creating a profitable business with their dream clients, working their ideal schedule.
I knew this elite group of stylists was my tribe and I dove in head first. Since completing my initial intensive extension course, I have attended every single NBR event offered, and have pivoted to business focus to solely offering NBR. I continue my educational journey within NBR’s ELITE Mastermind Network, I am 1 out of 250 in the World that holds the distinction, and I have worked damn hard to earn that.
Many women struggle in their relationship with their hair. Whether it be length, thickness, color, etc. With the NBR method, I am finally able to give my clients that Pinterest perfect hair they dreamt of.
What do my clients feel sets me apart from other salon experiences they have had?
I LISTEN! A large portion of each appointment with my guests is spent listening. Something I’ve been told I excel in. Too many of us are on autopilot and there’s a lot of miscommunication that could be avoided by taking the time to hear each other out and truly listen.
I enjoy getting to know my guest’s stories just as much as I enjoy getting to know their hair. I want my guests to leave the salon feeling pampered, educated, and confident.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
My advice for young women would be… know that you are the only one with enough power to derail your course. Stay true to yourself, find something that lights YOUR fire and get after it. Your excitement is contagious!
