Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Correll.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Christina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my business about four years ago. I was a stay at home, homeschool mom to my three children. Since I was a licensed Esthetician for over a decade, and I always enjoyed helping people with their skin, I decided to open my business. My original goal was to work part-time and make my prices affordable enough for other stay-at-home-moms to be able to reach their skin goals. The business really took off and is now a full-time gig.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. The struggle to balance a business and a family has always been something I have had a lot of guilt over. Should I be working when my children need me at home? Having some slow months and still trying to cover the overhead of the business has also been a worry at times, mostly in the beginning. My husband always brings me back to reality and reminds me that this is my passion and it brings me so much joy. He has supported me from day one, and I am glad he pushed me to continue.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am an esthetician. I take care of my client’s skin. Helping people with their acne is one of my favorite things to do, and yes, I LOVE to pop pimples. 🙂 it makes me happy to visibly see a positive change in my client’s skin. I specialize in ingredients. I am a health nerd and I love to research. I believe in using organic/local products most of the time. After all, our skin is our largest organ and we should care what we put on it. Of course, there is a time and a place for chemicals, like the amazing chemical peels I offer. I also have my own private label, these products are custom formulated specifically for The Skin Care Lab.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
My friends! I have a lot of “lady boss” friends who are killing it in their careers. Watching them succeed in life and business is what inspires me not only in my own business but also creatively. I love that we build each other up and are there for each other when things get tough in both business and life, in general. And of course, lots of celebrating.
