Meet Trailblazer Daphne Gaghagen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daphne Gaghagen.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
MommyILoveYouSoBig was created the moment my son, now 4 years old, uttered that sweet little sentence at bedtime. We have said it to each other every night in the two years since.

I have used the MommyILoveYouSoBig platform to create a presence on social media (on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook,) and on my blog.

My life as a mother of two amazing kids and as a wife to an amazing husband was too funny and crazy not to share. I also dabble in recipe creation, sharing my favorite products, and I also talk a bit about my identity as a plus-size woman working on body positivity and self-love above all else.

I was given a gift in being able to reach out and communicate with the MommyILoveYouSoBig brand, and there isn’t a day that I take it for granted.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a smooth road – in fact, it’s been a joy. The primary piece of advice I’d give to anyone, not just young women, is that success as an influencer or a writer will not find you. You must put in the work. And writing begets writing, which means that the more you write, the better your stuff will be.

Hard work, diligence, and a little faith — combine that all with authenticity, and you’ve got the winning combination. If you get out of the gate making things up to try and stay relevant or editing your photos to the point that no one would recognize you in real life, you will find yourself boxed into a corner really quickly.

You matter and you are important because you are YOU. That will resonate with your audience.

We’d love to hear more about MommyILoveYouSoBig.
As a blogger, I write about all sorts of things – my Instagram/Facebook/Twitter platforms tend to focus on motherhood, identity, lifestyle, and body image topics, along with tasty recipes.

I also serve as the editor for the San Diego Moms Blog, a phenomenal local resource for parents and mom bosses/mompreneurs looking for visibility and a community hub.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I’m lucky enough to have grown up here in San Diego – in the same place I now reside in, Chula Vista. South Bay gets a bad rap far too often. It’s actually an incredible place to raise a family! The resources, amenities, and family-friendly businesses and restaurants can’t be beaten. It’s also beautiful, relatively affordable in comparison to most of the county, and fantastically diverse. My children hear many languages and see many colors all around them all of the time, and that is deeply important to me.
