Today we’d like to introduce you to Doris Carrillo.
Doris, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I had a passion for beauty. So much, so that I graduated beauty school in ‘07. Even though I had gone to school for hair, I enjoyed doing my friend’s and family’s Makeup just out of pure passion. After working in the field of hair for about 7 years, I decided, I was too tired and bored of doing haircuts and color and I wanted to do something else…
I have always pictured myself as an entrepreneur but I just didn’t know how or what to do…
I started working at an office doing basic computer work. It didn’t consume too much of my time and I was able to go back to school and focus on doing makeup.
In 2015, GlamDoo started as a freelance company mostly servicing destination weddings here in San Diego, Temecula and Baja California.
Three years later we are super excited that we can offer our services at our Studio in Lemon Grove and not only that but we are now offering professional makeup classes!
It has been a long road to where we are today. It hasn’t been easy. It took patience, hard work and persistence… but it has been worth it. 🙂
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There’s always gonna be something that gets on your way, it hasn’t been easy, I’ve cried, I’ve had to cancel plans because all my money was going towards my business…
You get to a point where you just want to quit! Thank GOD, I have a very supportive husband and family who’s been helping me along the way…
To every women out there that shares the same dream, go for it. Be strong and be persistent and know God has a plan for you! 🙂

Right now, we have our makeup studio and school in Lemon Grove, CA. We do makeup, hairdos and styles for special events.
We mainly focus on brides but we can do any type of makeup.
We do airbrush makeup, Fx, beauty and bridal.
We also offer self-makeup classes as well as Professional Makeup Classes!
I think that what sets us apart is that we are super honest and transparent, we give the best of ourselves to you, we listen to our customers and as a school, we give you the best education/attention you can have.
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
