Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Rodriguez.
Erica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my journey off as a makeup artist in 2009 although my heart was to be an esthetician but the school was not affordable at the time – there, I was introduced to lash extensions. I immediately fell in love – Back then, it was not a “popular” service. I would practice on close friends and family to gain my skill and learned a lot on my own. I became certified as a lash tech in 2018 and now, a licensed esthetician in 2019. I currently have a single studio where I work from – my goal is to grow and become a full-service esthetic studio (nothing too big).
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc.– but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not a smooth road – I was young and couldnt afford the school I wanted to go to. I eventually worked my way through and although it took a couple of years – I managed to make the time and pushed myself through school. I found out I was pregnant at the beginning of school – I wanted this so bad, I knew I had to push through a chase my dream. In between all that time – I never stopped practice lashes and strived for what I truly wanted.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Social media has helped me so in networking and gaining new clients! The exposure really helps!
