Today we’d like to introduce you to Iris Unique.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Iris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My shop actually started with succulents believe it or not. I bought a home and went to Home Depot for garden plants-I normally kill all plants & figured “drought tolerant, maybe I can keep those alive!” I soon started a collection of them, then started a succulent Instagram page because my friends were getting tired of all my plant posts on my personal Instagram. If you scroll back to old Instagram posts on @irisunique_shop, you can see the evolution-from succulent photos, to succulent sales, to “hey, I love crystals-why not sell those too?!” & now I’m a full-blown crystal business.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say it’s been a road of trial & error, and an extreme amount of time and effort to get where my little shop has grown to today. However every struggle just made me that much more determined to succeed. Starting (& continuing to thrive!) your own business has a large amount of “behind the scenes” work involved, but being your own boss makes it so rewarding. You get out of your business what you are willing to put into it. If you pour your heart & soul into your business, your business will thrive. I am also a firm believer in manifesting your dreams-if you have the mindset that your business WILL thrive and succeed-not only think it, but truly believe it, it will happen.

However it is not only gorgeous to look at, but it is also known to be a stone that is calming & serene to be around. Many of my customers start out purchasing stones for their beauty but soon realize their emotionally beneficial effects as well. I’m here to help provide you not only with Nature’s creations that are beautiful to look at and decorate your home with, but also explain the benefits that each of these stones bring to you emotionally.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I started working at a very young age (12 years old) and was homeschooled from middle school onward. I think both experiences caused me to become extremely independent and self-motivated. I now realize that every step, trial I’ve been through, and career I’ve had up until this point really prepared me to be able to own and operate a business of my own. I never dreamt that my enjoyment of these beautiful stones could turn into a full-time career, and I am truly grateful.
