Meet Trailblazer Jade Rocca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Rocca.

Jade, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my business in a very unconventional way. The idea of Mindful Magnolia came to me while I was in treatment from domestic violence and drug abuse. After leaving a very toxic relationship, I found myself taking refuge in substances that numbed the incredible pain I was facing at the time. Over a year went by and I decided enough was enough and sought treatment. I was in a Women’s Recovery Intensive Outpatient program for 11 months. During this time of getting clean and healing the wounds of my trauma, I found flowers. I would buy myself a bouquet once a week. This practice quickly began to symbolize a much deeper meaning of strength, beauty and growth. Flowers made me realize the natural emergence and growth in all of us. I was able to relate to the stem of a flower. I realized that I too was planted in darkness, that I too needed nourishment in this dark place in order to take the first step forward. I knew that if I loved myself and nourished my seed that it would grow, and my stem would eventually get strong enough to stand on its own. And ultimately, I knew, that if I put in all the work and strengthened my foundation, that I would blossom at the top and bring great beauty into this world. And with that, I opened Mindful Magnolia on October 1, 2018.

I was able to secure a few corporate clients in the Holiday season of 2018. I was still in my treatment program at this time. When I graduated from my Outpatient Program in January 2019, I jumped into the wedding industry right away. I was tenacious about getting my name and face in front of people and building my portfolio. I collaborated on photo shoots and events and got the ball rolling. The momentum of 2019 has been incredible and I am so grateful for every second of it. Mindful Magnolia has now booked over 20 weddings in this first year and we are growing in the Corporate Wellness markets as well. We have also launched Blooming Forward this year, which is a community for women to meet and share their struggles with trauma and addiction. I am so incredibly humbled to share my story with my community and I will continue to use Mindful Magnolia as a platform to empower women, one stem at a time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No road worth taking is going to be a smooth ride. Always remember, “if it were easy, everyone would do it”. None of this process has been easy by any means, but that’s what makes it all worth it. My journey has been painful and hard, but what came out of facing my darkest demons was the greatest gift of all-purpose. I had to get clean and sober and heal my wounds, my life was literally at stake. Learning the tools to reframe the “negatives” to work FOR me not against me has been the most valuable lesson of my life. My advice to young women starting their journey is simply put in one word: tenacity. Be tenacious, NEVER give up on your dreams, regardless if you don’t have the funding, support, strategy, education, etc. Do not doubt yourself, the Universe will support your dreams if you do. We live in a world where absolutely anything is possible. It is up to us, as strong women, to demand our seats at the big table. If you love yourself first, nourish the seeds of your soul, and you, without a doubt, will grow and bloom forward.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Mindful Magnolia – what should we know?
Mindful Magnolia is a local, full-service Floral Design Company. We specialize in Wedding Florals, Corporate Events and Personal Deliveries. We are also known for empowering our strong female communities. I am most proud of what Mindful Magnolia stands for – strength, beauty and growth. I started this company because of the profound respect and symbolism I relate to in flowers. We are able to use Floral Design as an outlet of creative expression, grounding ourselves in the daily reminder that we are all constantly growing and blooming forward. Life is not the destination, it is the journey. And we believe there is strength to be found in the dark times along the way.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
My advice to any woman just starting out is to be fearless. Whatever it is that you are passionate about, go after it with every cell in your body. We, as women, are living in an incredible era of opportunity. Of course, females will still be faced with adversity, but we have such a chance, now more than ever in history, to make a name for ourselves. So I encourage all of us to do just that – demand your success. Work your butt off, have complete faith in yourself. Don’t let fear get in the way of what your heart is calling you to do. There are two types of people in this world, those who give up and those who don’t. Do whatever it takes and love yourself first.
