Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Clark.
Jamie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a self-taught artist, I have been creating a vast database of drawings and paintings ranging from surrealism to realism since I was a young child. Over the past decade, I have been waiting tables to make a living, while studying American Sign Language (ASL). I’ve always loved using my hands because a lot of control and power comes from them! I never made a living off of my artistic talents until about three years ago, at the beginning of 2016. A close friend of mine wanted me to draw her partner’s two dogs, and everything just fit together perfectly! I am a fierce animal lover, and I was born to illustrate, paint, draw, create, and infuse my art with love! I am known for my custom pet portraits. The future looks very promising when you combine the love for animals with the love for creative expression.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every road is meant to be challenging, and success is achieved through failures and hardships. A huge misfortune took place in my life in 2012, when all of my life’s work(from my childhood to my early 20s) was destroyed. Once that happened to me, I couldn’t draw or paint. I felt like that destruction took my talent along with it. For four years, I abandoned this intense passion. As I look back on it, I know to see it as a lesson I needed to learn and a cleansing of my past self.
My advice is to never give up or allow fear, failure, or misfortune to hinder you. Those things make us stronger than we were yesterday, and it is necessary for success.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a portrait artist, and absolutely love to do animal portraits, family portraits, wedding artwork, murals, children’s art, concept art, and illustration. I specialize in creating all artwork that can be felt with the heart. I am most proud of being able to create works of art for people who love their animal companions. It is a special bond and the immense gratitude I’ve received is overwhelming! What sets me apart from others is my unwavering dedication to creating Love Infused Art for whoever commissions me.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
There is a limitless amount of opportunity for women. It all comes down to the dedication, the commitment, the passion, and the love for what you do.
