Meet Trailblazer Klyn Elsbury

Today we’d like to introduce you to Klyn Elsbury.

Born with Cystic Fibrosis, Klyn Elsbury was initially told she would not live past the age of 14. At the age of 25, she was asked to make end-of-life arrangements because she was unlikely to make it to her next birthday. She went from having a successful career to going on long-term disability leave, and wondering if her next birthday was going to be her last one.

Today, at the age of 30, Klyn is a best-selling author, Cystic Fibrosis activist and survivor, keynote speaker, and the CEO of Landmark Makers. Her story and daily work to thrive, rather than survive, has inspired thousands who have heard her speak. She now travels the world helping executives radically transform their company culture through proactive recruiting and employee engagement workshops.

Her principles have been shared via 100+ publications and even lead to a prime-time slot on US Nightly News with Lester Holt, in part, because she has proven that with the right training, you can radically transform your company culture, your company, and thereby your life.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The opening quote of my book reads, “A bird sitting on a branch is never afraid of the branch breaking – for its trust is not on the branch, but in her own wings.”

Never be afraid of your potential.
Only take the advice of people who have achieved what you want to achieve.
Never let anyone tell you your worth.
Believe in who you are, why you are doing what you are doing, and keep trying.

We’d love to hear more about MK Foundation.
I do three things, all in an effort to help patients and families battling Cystic Fibrosis.

First thing, I speak at companies and conferences about adversity and how to find the happiness and joy in the times of our lives that seem the most hopeless.

I’ve spent 1/3 of my life in hospitals and draw the parallels from that to the parallels of founding and scaling a company.

Second, I write… a lot. You can find my blogs and books all on my website and they serve as a backdrop to inspire you to get rid of limiting beliefs and push yourself towards uncovering your real potential.

Third, I coach others by workshops and private sessions to incorporate all of the above into your life through actionable, time-tested strategies.
