Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Delmore.
Molly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
San Diego born and raised, I’m beyond grateful to call the beach my backyard. Growing up, you could find me on the volleyball court, in the kitchen baking delicious treats or soaking up the California sunshine.
I graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.A. in Retailing and Consumer Sciences and a minor in Business Administration in May 2018. While in school, I strengthened my communication and writing skills working as an editor and writer for the food publication, Spoon University. It wasn’t until I ran the social media accounts for my local Nordstrom store that I discovered my true passion for social media management, eventually leading me to a full-time job in this industry.
On the side, I have continued my passion for social media and photography by creating content for my lifestyle Instagram account @mindovermolly. If you follow my page, you’ll know I love all things San Diego; searching for the best restaurants, bars, work out studios and photo perfect spots. I love to be active, go to concerts, eat delicious food & travel anywhere I can afford a plane ticket. I owe the success of this account to my family, friends and of course my followers because without their support I wouldn’t have the opportunities to work with so many incredible brands and companies.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As a young woman, still at the beginning of my professional journey it can be difficult starting at the bottom of the corporate totem pole. I’m lucky to have such incredibly supportive parents and friends who believe in me and all my strengths as a social media professional and writer. I’ve been blessed with amazing managers and coworkers who have helped me along the way. I’ve also learned a lot from the difficult times and not so easy to work with people. My advice to other women is to be confident in your abilities, learn as much as you can from people who inspire you and stay positive. Everything happens for a reason, I truly believe that.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
By day, I’m a social media marketer focusing on clients in the hospitality industry. I love photographing, creating content & writing copy that showcases the best bars and restaurants in San Diego. Outside of my 9-5, I work on my personal brand @mindovermolly that focuses on all things Lifestyle, Food, Wellness, and Travel. What sets me apart is my knowledge of everything going on in San Diego, my transparency with the brands and products I promote and my millennial perspective on the world. I’m most proud of my ability to engage and reach almost 7,000 people through my social channels. I’m truly inspired by every person I follow, so it really makes me feel accomplished to know so many people enjoy following my journey and trust the reviews of restaurants, workout studios and products that I post.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I’m a huge podcast junky. I swear by the anything ‘Betches’ brand which includes podcasts covering different topics from health and wellness to dating and career advice to Bachelor recaps. Their franchise covers everything our generation wants to hear and the three female founders truly inspire me in my day to day life.
