So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always knew that I had a passion for music since I was very little. The moment I realized that it was something I wanted to pursue as my career was when my elementary school had a talent show. I was in the 3rd grade, and I sang “Good Morning Baltimore,” from Hairspray. I knew that night that I wanted to sing. I wanted to sing for the rest of my life. Right after that, I started vocal lessons, and I got the amazing opportunity at 13 years old to sing a solo with a cappella choir to a sold-out crowd at Carnegie Hall! Flash forward, I’m now 16 years old, and I’m pursuing my dream. Has it been a smooth road?
I have a certain medical condition called Idiopathic Tiptoe Walking, which prevents me from putting my heels down when I walk. Throughout school, a lot of kids would make fun of me and bully me for this. There will always be people like this who will try to bring you down and make you feel incapable of your dreams. Don’t let them get to you. Keep your head held high, and your eye on the prize.

I am a 16-year-old singer based in San Diego, CA. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t just have one singing style! I can sing many different genres, from Broadway show tunes to pop!
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
When you put yourself out there and seize every opportunity, you will make connections with other professionals. Responsible use of social media is a great way to do this! I made a great connection this way and because of that, more doors are opening! Never give up on your goals.
