Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My passion for the beauty industry started as soon as I could remember. Whether it was being eager for my mom to glam me up before dance recitals or spending hours watching YouTube beauty tutorials, I knew this was something I loved. As soon as I graduated from high school, I enrolled in Bellus Academy where I spent a year of full-time school learning everything there is to pass the State Board test. As soon as I graduated, I couldn’t be more excited to start my joinery which lead me to the hot seat salon. There, I assisted my sister in law Jessica Bean, where I learned many useful techniques for popular demands. Six months into assisting, I began taking my own clients. Three years later, I own a Salon Suite in Santee where my clients come to relax and enjoy their hair services happily. Every day, new challenges and new clients come my way and the most exciting part about this journey is that things are constantly changing. I am so thankful to have the clients I have, old and new.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This road has been smooth and rocky all at the same time. When you’re a new stylist, it can be difficult to expand your clientele and build trust with your clients, but the best thing to do is never give up and keep pushing forward. I feel so blessed to be where I am today.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about NikkiC_Beauty – what should we know?
I am a professional hairstylist. I’m known for my balayage technique which gives clients a beautiful dimensional hair color with low maintenance! I am also known for my seamless installation of tape-in extensions. I am so proud of the brand I’ve created in such a short period of time and the risks I’ve taken to be where I am. When it really comes down to why I do what I do, it’s because I’ve ultimately felt like my purpose in life was to give back to others and with this profession, I can make people feel their best, look their best and be their best. Not only am I a hairstylist, but I am a friend, a therapist and an open heart.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well-positioned for?
Social media is such a big platform to advertise yourself and your business. Keep posting and get your name out there! So many opportunities will come.
