Today we’d like to introduce you to Terha Newby.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Christine Petal Planners (CPP) is your local florist, specializing in weddings and other events, ran by yours truly, Terha Newby. CPP started its journey on January 1st, 2016! I rang in the New Year by doing my first event, which was a wedding; that happened to be my sister’s wedding so it was super special to me. CPP was actually started with a friend mine, which made my overall business journey amazing. After a while, she decided that this route was not for her and wanted to no longer partake in the business; we’re still the best of friends and she’s still a big supporter. After much thought and support from my husband, I took a leap of faith and decided to continue and grow the business on my own. Fast forward a couple of years to today, with a lot of hard work and support from my family and friends, my business is growing bigger and more fun each year that comes and I couldn’t be happier with the growth my business has made thus far.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like any business endures, there are ups and downs and constant curve balls thrown my way. But, I truly feel that’s how you learn. Once one learns how to navigate through the good times and the bad, the smoother your ride goes. If I had a penny for every time I had a struggle during my journey of starting this business, I’d be a millionaire and the rest is history. From trying to squeeze in family time with my husband and three kids during my busy season to the pressure of finding the perfect flower blooms for each client to create their ultimate floral vision for their dream wedding, the pressure and struggles are always there. But, if you turn those struggles into positives and think of each struggle as a learning experience, it makes your business journey so much more worthwhile.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Christine Petal Planners – what should we know?
I create premier floral arrangements for weddings and other events. I mainly specialize in weddings as the majority of my clientele are engaged couples. I am known for my floral to resemble a soft, romantic, garden look. I’m a sucker for neutral blooms with a pop of color with some rich greenery, seriously a game changer. One thing I am proud of, that my business strives for, is how happy all of our past clients have been after their wedding is completed! There is always a stress factor of “what if they don’t like what I’ve created?” But, I always have to remember, this is what I DO! I’ve studied their vision, discussed what their wants and needs are for their wedding; usually, just a simple pep talk to myself “remain calm, I’ve got this” usually puts me back on track. My main goal at the end of each day is to have happy clients. I’ve been on the clients’ side, wedding planning is full of stress factors and I want to be one less thing for them to stress about. So, from the moment I join my clients on their wedding journey, I make sure they trust me, and to put all their worries and stress on me about their floral concerns because hey, it’s what I do. and I want them to know that they can trust me no matter what.
