Meet Trailblazer Victoria Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Martinez.

Victoria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started the beauty industry with a desire to help women feel beautiful inside and out. The idea of “playing” with glitter and nail polish all day sounded ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

Entering my spa nail program, I was very fortunate to have an instructor that was very talented and cared about each and every one of her students. She was the director of the program as well as a CND master. She helped lay a strong foundation to a very promising career.

I have now been licensed for 5 years. Using each day to continue to grow. I am very passionate and dedicated to nails and my family. Spending countless hours watching nail videos and searching for new designs on social media. The perfect excuse to spend all day on Instagram. haha.

I use my motivation and inspiration to strive to be the best person and nail technician that I can be. As well as helping others along the way.

My goal is to become an educator. Showing other technicians my tips and tricks, helping them maintaining a positive attitude and being in control of their career and their life.

I’ve met some amazing clientele and amazing nail technicians during my journey and I am very excited to see what the future holds.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve DEFINITELY had some struggles along the way. Those struggles are what molded me into the person I am today. The good struggles and bad.

I’ve learned to adjust to other’s personalities, catering to your client’s interests, adjusting your service to fit your client’s needs.

You also need to come to an understanding of what you want to achieve in your career. So, it’s easier to lay out your goals and the steps needed to reach those goals.

Something that’s helped me along the way is the phrase: “Work smarter not harder!”

If you’re polishing and the color isn’t working out, you’re trying a new nail art technique and it’s not coming out the way you want it to look, your client wants a very detailed design and you don’t know how to achieve that look. Just let them know and they’ll be understanding. Don’t force something to work. Especially if you have the power to change it. Be vocal and let them know what’s going on. Make sure that you feel good about the service at the end of the day so that your client can also feel good.

We’d love to hear more about V Martinez Nails.
Nails, Nails, Nails! Haha, anything and everything nails.

I specialize in gel manicures, gel extensions, and pedicures. I highly enjoy doing nail art. Anything from marbling, embellishments, stamping, minimalism, Japanese nail art, and abstract. Taking pride in my attention to detail. Providing an amazing service to each and every person. While delivering perfection, that I would expect myself as a client. That helps me as a technician so much, we’ve all been the client at some point. I want to provide a positive experience for everyone that I work with.

It’s very easy to fall into the “Norm.” It takes someone with the desire to be different to create their own style and personality that stands out. I take pride in my work, listening to my client’s needs, and providing outstanding services that last. Creating fun designs that not only look cool but were fun in the process.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
It is a very powerful thing to be a woman. We are intelligent, passionate and caring. Mixed in with so many other things. I believe women can do anything they set their mind to. I’ve been very blessed to have met some strong positive female role models during my journey.
