Meet Trailblazer Victoria Womack

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Womack.

Victoria, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
So, I’ve been a hairstylist since 2013 at Ulta Beauty although it wasn’t my initial interest. Most people laugh, myself included because I honestly believed I would be sitting in a 4×4 cubicle fixing computers. It’s been six years now, and it still amazes me how far I’ve come in my industry & how much I’ve discovered about myself. I actually started off as a cashier, had no idea what an Ulta was. I had just finished beauty school and all I wanted to do was dive right in. Growing up, I always enjoyed dolls hair but I never really looked at it much more than an everyday hobby so know it being something that I can live through making women feel good about themselves and not just on the outside but from the inside out makes me feel so lucky to be blessed with a gift to bless others.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My journey here has not exactly been the smoothest, but I’ve embraced it, lived through it and I’m currently in the process of rebuilding important relationships I sacrificed along the way.

I grew up a lot faster than I planned, building an impenetrable wall around myself. I came out to my loved ones at the age of 19 and unfortunately like most stories it was a difficult time for me. So, being so young and on my own so quickly, I began a life I wasn’t exactly prepared for, but it was worth all the risk.

Through the few years, I’ve been in the industry without structure and guidance, many obstacles were put in my path & I’ve worked through situations where I was tested to my limits but I believe that these were some of the key things that truly helped me to trust myself, know who I was, how hard I’d worked to get that far and no one could take that from me.

Everyone’s journey is different, mine lead me here. Being in a place where I actually interact with so many different types of people, I think the best advice I could give would just be to trust yourself. In all & everything that you do. You may not why or how or when things will be what they are supposed to be, but the journey is never-ending. Keep pushing, even when you’re the only one in your corner because when one door closes, another opens.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m an Elite stylist for Ulta Beauty, I specialize in the art of hair. I think I’m most proud of being able to not only make all of my guests feel like there best selves when they leave my chair, but also pulling achieving the highest form of happiness every time they visit. I believe what sets me apart is that I pride myself in getting to know each and every one of them individually because they are all different and special in there own ways. I want to be able to give them all their own experience when they come and see me.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Younger women are always my favorite because I have so many of them as guests, but the best advice I could give at this point In my life would be to just really to just be you, unapologetically. Whoever you are, or even aspire to be. Never let anyone try to mold you into versions of what they want. Your best work is so effortlessly proven when you’re your best and truest self.
