Meet Tre Aces

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tre Aces.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m a 21-year-old producer, singer, rapper, and songwriter born in Seattle and raised in San Diego. I found my love for music around the age of eight when my father bought me a piano on Christmas of that year from always seeing me playing on them in stores. From there, I taught myself to play keys through trial and error and began curating songs going into the 8th grade. Halfway into my sophomore year, I fully applied myself to learning FL Studio and began producing and selling beats online when my parents moved our family to the east county. Post-graduation, I’m without a job and set on attending Full Sail University to continue pursuing music when I run into my old substitute teacher in a writing session who’s been a pioneer in the San Diego music entertainment business for a long time. After giving me the “Safe route, go to school” lecture, he let me send him a few tracks that I’ve worked on to give feedback. I got an email a week later from him saying he was blown away by the music and wanted to meet again to discuss more about an idea he had for me. From there, he sought out to reach everyone he knew that would give me an opportunity to stay and continue doing pursuing music in the city. Within the same week, he introduced me to a talent agent that ended up giving me an investment offer so I could stay in San Diego and continue my music career.

Please tell us about your art.
My music has always been labeled “different”. My taste for music has always been all over the place. My days can go from listening to 21 Savage and Trippie Redd to Bon Iver and random movie scores. Being able to produce my own beats opened an immense door to my musical creativity, allowing me to express every emotion and thought instrumentally in what I create. My love for acoustic melodies and ambient sounds always pushed me to put an alternative twist to my hip hop/rnb production. I want my music to give people belief that the “different” is the best thing about themselves and that happiness starts with accepting and believing in whatever that “different” is about them. I know what it’s like to drown in insecurities and lose yourself in the dark mindset that anything outside of school or the military is destined for failure. I was near-obese and unemployed out of high school.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
I had to push myself to practice what I preach when it came to working with artist. Being able to create a song start to finish alone can cloud your head with the deceiving comfort that you can just do it yourself. But it’s really an amazing thing working with other creative heads, especially when they’re hungry. Everyone knows something someone else doesn’t and executes their ideas differently. It’s so vital to always expand your creativity and be open to any ideas good or bad. You’ll never know what will bloom from those roots.
