Meet Tyler Rhoades

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Rhoades.

Tyler, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My real estate career started in early 2018 when I was only 20 years old. But before I became the youngest Realtor in my office and one of the youngest in San Diego, I was studying business management and swimming Division 1 in Maryland, at Towson University, just outside of Baltimore. I had been a competitive swimmer my whole life and had goals of going to the Olympic Trials. Fast forward a bit through my first year in Maryland and I got kicked off my team (which happened to be on my birthday) for consistent high blood pressure and for poor performance. So I attempted to finish my year at TU as a non-athlete, frustrated, and confused about what to do next.

I came home, went to community college, quit swim, found out school wasn’t for me, dropped out, and had no idea what I wanted to do. I soon met a lady named Stephani, she was a Realtor and we started talking, for I always thought about getting into real estate. I thought it would be fun and it relates to swimming in so many different ways. The next week I met Stephani at her Keller Williams Office and found out real estate was something I really wanted to do.

After learning more about real estate, I signed up for schooling and prepped for my license exam. I got my license later that year and was excited to sell houses. Stephani became my mentor and taught me everything she knew about the business. Now I am 23, have been in the business for three years, and absolutely love my job every single day.

I started to utilize social media as my main form of getting business as I would inform my followers about selling and buying, and what to do. I have a big following on social media now (Facebook/Instagram – @tylerrhoadesrealtor and Snapchat – Tyyrhoades), where I share my day to day life as an SD Realtor, create informative videos on the selling and buying process as well as showing my personal side.

Now, my biggest goal is to educate everyone about real estate. Whether if it’s my young friends thinking about purchasing their first condo with a small down payment, or if it’s an older couple wondering what their home is worth because they are planning on retiring and moving out of state. I work all parts of San Diego and San Diego County and I am here to make everyone’s realty dreams a reality.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting out, real estate was not easy at all, and there were many obstacles along the way. At my young age, It was hard to make people believe that I could actually help them sell a home or buy a home. Also, it was hard to make myself believe that someone would trust a young 20-year-old with their biggest asset. It took a long time to make me switch my mindset and truly learn that age does not matter. I focused on my mindset every morning before I started work, I would read every morning, write out my goals, and listen to my affirmations. Now I actually see my age as a benefit to my business in many different ways and I can’t wait to see how much my business will grow in the coming years.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am with Keller Williams Realty. In El Cajon, CA, we are the number one real estate company in the world and the number one office here in East County. I specialize in first-time homebuyers and selling homes in the most modern and creative way possible. My favorite type of clients to work with are first-time homebuyers because of the emotion that comes with purchasing your first home. It is always exciting to see how they react during the fun adventure of real estate while they look around for a place to call home.

My two main business objectives are to inform/educate people of all ages about real estate and to give a modern, five-star experience from start to finish that is so stress-free that you would happily sell or buy with me again, and tell all your friends and family about my amazing service. One of my favorite parts of the day is looking through my texts and DM’s, answering everyone’s real estate questions, knowing that they searched me out individually, and trusted me to get them an honest answer and assist them with selling or buying a home.

There are many things that set me apart from most Realtors here in San Diego. The biggest one I believe is that I utilize social media and technology in any way that I can. Nowadays, social media can reach many more people compared to the old school ways, and that means more eyes on your property when you are ready to sell. As well as social media, I have produced very unique and creative methods to get homes more exposure and offers. When I work with sellers and meet with them to discuss my listing plan of action, they find out just how much more exposure I will give their home compared to the average agent.

When I work with buyers, I use similar technology to keep them up to date on the entire purchasing process and make sure I understand all of their wants and needs in a home before we step inside of one. We will meet up for a buyer consultation and I will get to know them a little more, give them a snapshot of the market, go over each step in the home purchasing process and then connect them with one of my preferred lenders if needed. After that, I dig deep into what they are looking for and then set them up on a program that will keep them up to date on new homes in the market

I invest a lot of my time thinking about how I can further help my clients with the selling and buying of real estate and I do believe that I can create a 5-star experience with every client I work with.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment in my career would probably have to be when I graduated from the Keller Williams BOLD program. BOLD stands for Business Objective: A Life By Design, and it is an intense 7-week long program that works on mindset, goal setting and teaches you how to build the life and business that you want to have. It really was the turning point in my career where I found out what I have to do in order to achieve the big goals I have in real estate and in life. I implement the BOLD program into my life each and every day and without it, I don’t think I would be where I am today.
