Meet Valerie A. Eddy of Peace Offers ~ Mediation & Education

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie A. Eddy.

Hi Valerie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Originally from Upstate, N.Y. I moved to the OC. Someone told me there are mountains in San Diego. I drove my stick-shift, avocado green, Gremlin car and discovered Julian. I fell in Love! I had literally found the West Coast version of my hometown.

My career spanned in the construction and automotive industries and law enforcement. It was during one of my construction jobs that I discovered Mediation. I became a Certified Mediator in 2011. Over nine years ago, I started Peace Offers ~ Mediation & Education.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Peace Offers ~ Mediation & Education provides Mediation, Education and Victim Services.

One of the biggest challenges is that the common thought is Mediation is for people going through a divorce. However, that is just one type of dispute where Mediation can help. There are many problems in which Mediation is able to assist you with a solution such as a Construction Dispute, an Insurance Claim or a conflict with your neighbor.

We inform the public the difference between Mediators, Arbitrators and Lawyers.

Mediatiator are Certified Professionals that does not enforce a decision on the individuals but help guide them into reaching a solution.

Arbitrators have some sort of legal background such as a paralegal, attorney or judge. Similar to a court judge; they hear both sides of the story and makes a decision as the resolution.

Lawyers have gone through law school and usually work for one side or the other, giving them legal advice in prosecution or defense.

The final outcome of any resolution is written in a legal format and is legally binding. Which means it holds up in court as a legal contract.

We’ve been impressed with Peace Offers ~ Mediation & Education, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
