As a new business graduate the possibilities were endless I guess and somehow I ended up being part of a team tasked to open the doors of a luxury hotel This is how my career in food and beverage started. I’ve managed catering teams, breweries, restaurants, and multi-unit coffee roasting companies. Customer service became my passion.
A career in food and beverage is very demanding and the hours are long between 14-16 hour days with no holidays or weekends off, ever! I’m always looking at trends around the world and I came across a restaurant in Australia that was serving Fairy Floss- aka cotton candy. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and the idea of bringing it to the scene in an artisanal way.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a slow but steady route so far. It’s hard to get a loan when your business plan revolves around selling/providing ONlY cotton candy to your customers.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Get Fluffed Up Fairy Floss – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business is called Get Fluffed Up Fairy Floss Co. and we hand spin organic cotton candy. We are known for our artisanal flavors that range from jalapeño jasmine to coconut lemongrass or rose petals and lavender.
We offer our sweet fluff prepackaged for retail stores or party favors as well as spin onsite for weddings or corporate events. We add no artificial dyes to our fairy floss and use only organic ingredients when making our sugar infusions. We are proud to be vegan!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are hoping to offer our fairy floss to local retail shops and grocery stores pretty soon!
