Hi Velia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am the owner of Wigs by Vee. I consider myself a caregiver to our Alternative Hair Loss Community. I was fortunate enough to be mentored by our legend Ms. Patti Joyce, who always believed in me and knew one day I would be who I am today. Most, if not all of her clients followed me on my business journey. And for that same reason Wigs by Vee is very well-known here in San Diego County and many parts around the world. I am also connected with cancer centers, hospitals, hair loss centers & clinics. I am extremely thankful for all the wig salons, hairdressers and barbers who constantly rave about my art and send me new clients. Sometimes it’s hard to believe this is my career, I am so blessed. I genuinely care for humanity and believe this is my mission in life. With that being said, I do have a program called Warriors Project. Warriors Project was created for all who are 21 years or younger. I provide one custom wig by Vee, products and all my services at no cost.
I believe that part of the treatment and healing journey is that you must look good to feel good. This is my opportunity to give back to the universe.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The main struggle I faced was not allowing people to take advantage of my kindness. At the beginning of my business road, I wanted to help everyone and I had to take a step back and only take care of those who needed alternative hair. I learned the difference of wants and needs in the Alternative Hair world. Women would come in and try on a wig just to see how they looked like in a certain color or style. & that kept me away from those who truly needed me and my services. It is why I only focus on our hair loss community.
Another struggle I faced was meeting people who judged me by my race and age. A young Mexican entrepreneur with so much knowledge was not acceptable. I did faced a lot of mean people who did hurt my feelings but little did they know they only made me stronger. I had to feel those feelings to be who I am today.
Thankfully as the years go by we have normalized that. We now have so many young Mexican entrepreneurs!

My online presence is outstanding and it speaks for itself. I truly care about making an impact in my client’s life. What they love is that I am always a text/call away!
What sets me apart is my customization.
About 98% of the wigs & toppers need to be thinned, cut, styled and/or steam. Steaming removes the “box hair” and changes the memory of the hair which allows it to look more like real human hair. I also hand sew the wigs to ensure they are perfect and match the client’s head measurements.
Not everyone can afford a human hairpiece. It is why my services are so popular! I design all synthetic and heat defiant fibers and allow the fiber to look so natural & realistic!!
Synthetic hair is so underrated and I believe is because of the lack of knowledge. Knowledge is power and that is what I provide during a private consultation.
Although everyone knows me as a Wig Designer, I am really an Alternative Hair Designer for all of my top-notch wigs, toppers, clip-in extensions and hairpieces.

Word of mouth! I am a walking advertisement, I tell everyone I meet about my career and services. I also love to inform everyone about my Warriors Project, our kids are the future!
I am a mentor and have had the pleasure of helping many young entrepreneurs. My main goal is to show them how nothing is impossible. During my mentorship, I teach them all that I know at no cost. All the young entrepreneurs I’ve helped are in different career paths not just alternative hair. It’s a joy to see them be successful. The entrepreneur life is for everyone! We all have a mission and purpose.
