I’m Verne Brooks, Jr., the founder of the Rising Stars Development League. Our journey began in 2016 with a simple idea and a deep passion for sports, something that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
In 2016, the Rising Stars Development League was born, and we immediately set out to make a positive impact in San Diego communities. One of our first steps was partnering with a nonprofit organization called Children and Family Comprehensive Health Outreach Inc. This collaboration was driven by our shared goal of providing top-notch services to children in the community at a minimal cost. Through this partnership, we could offer not just sports programs but also essential items like shoes, socks, gift certificates, and various donations received as part of our nonprofit status.
Our vision extended beyond just sports; we wanted to ensure that every child, regardless of financial constraints, could participate in our programs. That’s why we made scholarships available, helping families who couldn’t afford sports registrations to enroll their children without financial barriers.
Today, the Rising Stars Development League is a testament to the power of passion, community collaboration, and the belief that every child deserves a chance to shine and thrive, both on and off the field.

Every journey, especially in entrepreneurship, comes with challenges and triumphs. I’ve faced my fair share of ups and downs along the way. However, what keeps me going through it all is my unwavering love and passion for what I do. I firmly believe in the power of problem-solving and making things happen, no matter the obstacles.
As Kobe Bryant once said, “Failure is not an answer.” This quote resonates deeply with me because it encapsulates the mindset I’ve cultivated throughout my journey. Instead of seeing challenges as roadblocks, I view them as opportunities to learn, grow, and, ultimately, succeed. It’s this resilience and determination that have helped me navigate the rough patches and keep moving forward towards achieving my goals.

Rising Stars Development League stands as a beacon of youth sports programs in San Diego. We focus on leadership, teamwork, and overall skill development through a diverse range of sports offerings. We specialize in youth basketball, soccer, T-ball, and flag football, catering to boys and girls of all skill levels aged 4 through 13.
What sets us apart is our commitment to holistic development. We don’t just teach sports skills; we instill values like leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork, preparing young athletes for success on and off the field. I’m particularly proud of the positive impact we’ve had on countless young lives, helping them discover their potential and build a strong foundation for their future endeavors.
