Meet Victor Torres of AstroRican

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Torres.

Victor, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hey everyone, so a little journey with me can start with me going to the military at 18, I tried a couple things beforehand but ended up liking music and technology. My military rate had nothing to do with either, so I practiced my music when I could. Writing and freestyling with people who could it was fun and a good pass me by but the Navy wasn’t it for me and I could tell. I went from FL to VA then VA to CA. Now that I’m here, I feel opportunity and progression are coming soon. I became the IT Tech support I’ve wanted to become and continue to rap on the side until that opportunity comes so I can be ready. Along with working my mind to progress with the IT cause I can complete more than one task. Recently I had a life-changing event on Friday the 13th, my father passed away, and it just showed me how fragile time could be to anyone and nothings promised but if I work hard enough, there’s a legacy to be left.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My mother passing about 8-9 years ago. My father passing this year. The military. Not seeing family for years. Being broke but with a roof over my head.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m a rapper. My music currently is great for a good amount of people but I do rap about smoking a lot. I can widen my scope when given the chance to focus but I rap about what I like and that’s Mary Jane. I try to incorporate little rhyme schemes and get influence from a wide variety of people and genres.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is getting my family right. I have goals to be a billionaire but to be successful would be having my entire family living comfortably. My sister in a house and never having to worry about money or insurance or a price tag in general.
