Meet Wendy Snyder of FreshStartFamilyOnline.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Snyder.

Wendy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I found the work of Positive Parenting through Motherhood and the challenges it provided when I was raising teeny humans.

I currently reside in Encinitas, CA with my best friend husband and two beautiful, healthy, vibrant young kiddos, age 7 and 10. I live and work as a Certified Parent Educator and Coach of “Redirecting Children’s Behavior” and “The Joy of Parenting Program” (Two Positive Parenting programs that empower families with tools that teach children through kind, compassionate and respectful methods, while also focusing on setting healthy limits, strong rules and firm boundaries).

I’m registered with the International Network for Children and Families and I absolutely LOVE supporting families to have more peace, joy, and connection in their homes. I founded my company FreshStartFamilyOnline.com to empower families to build the family of their dreams and to feel supported by the intense challenges that parenthood provides. My company educates families through my programs The Foundations Course: https://freshstartfamilyonline.com/the-foundations-course/ and Jesus Guided Parenting Program https://freshstartfamilyonline.com/product/jesus-guided-parenting-course/ and provides consistent support through my monthly membership program, The Bonfire. https://freshstartfamilyonline.com/bonfire-waitlist/

It’s important however to note that I WASN’T always so positive with my parenting. Heck, to this day, even after being deeply immersed in this work for nearly the last decade, I still am not perfect when it comes to always being positive with my kids. Thank God Positive Parenting isn’t about perfection, but instead grace, continuous learning, community and solid foundational tools that WORK to increase peace, joy, and cooperation in our homes!

But here’s the truth…..

I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS WORK AND IT’S ABILITY TO TRANSFORM FAMILIES, RELATIONSHIPS, AND THE WORLD! As Mother Theresa said, “Peace in the world, starts with peace in the home.”, so when families trust me with their time and resources… to learn this work through my programs, I always make sure they know that their efforts to strengthen their family is powerful and admirable.

I’ll never forget walking into that preschool community room as an attendee for my first Redirecting Children’s Behavior class, grabbing my nametag, and looking around at all the other parents (who I would have sworn knew nothing about how hard my life was in that moment). I was stressed out, hopeless, angry, annoyed and full of blame.

Within a half hour, I was laughing and feeling understood. The teacher was amazing, real, funny, honest and extremely warm, as well as all of the other parents in the room. There was zero judgment… but instead, heaps of encouragement, new ideas, and answers.

I WAS HOOKED! I ran home to try out some new techniques with my munchkins.

Some things worked immediately, some failed (with epic proportions) and some took quite some time to get good at, but they all WORKED and soon, the light started to return to my day. I was able to see the goodness in my little wild child again, and I slowly got better at taking care of myself (& not letting my day go down the drains even when the colicky baby was screaming and the toddler was throwing her 4th tantrum of the day.)

This stuff was GOLD and within a few years of practicing the work in my own home, I became much more fluent in speaking the “language” (applying the tools successfully)… and I knew I had to pass on the good news to others.

Parenting shouldn’t be done alone… without support. Today, there are so many amazing, helpful, incredible tools to help us raise our kids with integrity, kindness, firmness, and success, resulting in a much more joyous and confident journey. I truly find the utmost joy in helping families learn this work!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being an entrepreneur, just like being a mother has been both incredibly rewarding, AND incredibly challenging. I credit my kids as being some of the greatest teachers of my life, as they have taught me so much about compassion, grace, respect, self-control, persistence, faith, perseverance, self-confidence and trust.

Building a business, especially a business with such an emotional component (coaching families through some of the most challenging moments of their lives) is intense, but also invigorating and rewarding.

I try to focus my days on the incredible sense of purpose and joy I feel when I’m able to support families through hardship or challenges, to see their children with integrity and light, instead of the days where I’m fearful about the heavy financial investment & time it takes to build, run and grow an online business.

Overall, I’ve learned that success doesn’t come overnight and that there are absolute beauty and learning that happens in the waiting, hard work and commitment.

I’m most proud of Fresh Start Family’s strong voice that boldly stands for dignity, respect and compassion when it comes to raising children, while also strongly advocating for families to be equipped with tools and support on how to do this.

I differ from other coaches/educators/authors in my honest, vulnerable, relatable and fun approach. My way of being WITH my students and families as I teach helps them to feel like we are all in the same boat… each working hard to spread light and love and raise our kids with integrity.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
With the recent hiring of a PR firm Chic Execs out of San Marcos, CA… Fresh Start Family is looking forward to many more podcast interviews, media coverage and online publication editorial spots that will help spread the message of positive parenting all across the globe to families in need of hope, encouragement and support.

The vision for the future of Fresh Start Family is also to support parents BEFORE they have children vs. our current focus on families with children who realize they need support (often parents in a challenging stage of parenthood!) Bringing this curriculum into high school or college as 101 required classes is a dream of Fresh Start Family for the future.

Wendy would also like to explore serving with organizations dedicated to ending legal corporal punishment of children in her lifetime in the United States.
