Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Vazza
Hi Whitney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After graduating from New York University’s Master’s Program in Global Affairs, I was determined to change the world. I wanted to help people. I just wasn’t sure how, yet. I found myself working in the non-profit world for several years where I held marketing and operations roles. But, my impact on those we served felt far removed as I worked on marketing campaigns and sales/fundraising. After a short stint in Washington, DC, my husband and I moved across the country to San Diego, where I continued my marketing career as the Director of Program Strategy at a high profile marketing agency downtown. In 2020, in the height of the pandemic, we had our first daughter. We also bought our second home in Point Loma a few months before the city shut down due to COVID. After going through two real estate transactions since moving to San Diego, my interest in the industry peeked. Our personal REALTOR had such a profound impact on our lives and our journey to homeownership and creating a space for our growing family, that I realized “saving the world” maybe wasn’t my calling. Instead, could I help one family at a time, as they navigate an incredibly difficult yet exciting new chapter of their lives? That’s when I decided to put my marketing, project management and client services skills into real estate. Two kids later, I got my license and joined a brokerage and have been working in real estate ever since. The idea of helping a family buy their dream home is what excites me. Or thoughtfully guiding a couple in downsizing and making an emotional decision to sell the home they raised their kids in – that motivates me. Or helping a young couple buy their first condo, then a few years later see them rent it out and use that rental income to pay their next mortgage – that’s what keeps me going. As a mom of three, with over a decade of experience in marketing and project management, I’m a master at working under pressure and coordinating chaos with a calm, and thoughtful demeanor. I love all my roles and titles – mom, wife, real estate advisor, and friend.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a mom, especially a first time mom, during the pandemic was not easy. I questioned my career, I questioned our future. Having kids puts things in perspective, and you want your time spent away from them to feel “worth it.” With the cost of childcare, my husband and I questioned what made sense as we grew our family. I’m finally at a place where the time spent away from my kids does, in fact, feel worth it. Not thanks to money (that’s for sure), but thanks to the, perhaps selfish, feeling you get when guiding someone through such a huge decision in their lives when it comes to buying or selling a home.
We also moved across the country from our families, all of whom are still on the east coast. We followed our dream and love for San Diego and the lifestyle that comes with our amazing city. This is thanks to the, perhaps selfish, feeling you get when guiding someone through such a huge decision in their lives when it comes to buying or selling a home.
As you know, we’re big fans of Whitney Vazza Real Estate. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a REALTOR® with Compass and a proud member of the Kappel Realty Group, San Diego’s #1 large team by number of homes sold. I also have certificates from the California Association of REALTORS as a First Time Home Buying Specialist and advanced training as an ADU Specialist. As the owner of an investment property in Point Loma, as well as our family home with an ADU, I strongly believe in the value of owning real estate and using real estate as a way to build generational wealth for your family.
I worked in marketing and project management for over a decade, which has attributed to my success in real estate. With extensive experience in negotiating contracts, navigating difficult situations with confidence and professionalism, and managing competing priorities to complete projects on time and within budget, my skillset has always lended itself to the needs of my clients in real estate.
My husband owns a local plumbing business and drain franchise, which also lends itself well to the real estate industry.
What are your plans for the future?
I look forward to continuing to serve my clients in the coming years as the market continues to change. I also plan to further invest in real estate in San Diego on a personal level as we leverage investment properties.
