Meet Lauren Waskewicz of Be You Be Wholesome

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Waskewicz.

Lauren, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for health and wellness started at a young age. I was always active growing up – swimming on a team and cheerleading throughout high school. As I hit puberty, I became fascinated by my health and researched which foods were best to help my body function at the highest level. With most young adults, there comes a time when they struggle with body image and mine began after graduating High School and continued throughout college.

After struggling with my own health journey, I experimented and taught myself how to make customizable meal plans that made my body feel great, while not denying it the energy it needed. I came up with unique meal plans that worked for me. I learned to add macro and micronutrients to fuel my body, rather than focus on weight loss via a restrictive diet.

After working with a Holistic Doctor and getting blood work completed to identify any allergies or other health problems, I slowly started working with herbal supplements and other forms of micronutrients to strengthen my gut and continue healing from the inside out. After receiving my blood test results and seeing everything I was not supposed to eat, I panicked. Then, instead of taking something negative and stressing about it, I started coming up with meal plans for myself based off of my results.

There are so many diets out there and a lot of advice, especially with social media getting so big. There is just a lot in our faces and it can become overwhelming and confusing. I’ve done and tried it all and nothing seems to have lasting results. No program out there fulfilled me. I either was left feeling deprived, had low energy, or temporary results. I was doing research on my own and decided to go back to school for two years to become a Certified Holistic Nutritionist through Bauman College. After finishing school, I started my Holistic Nutrition journey with Be You be Wholesome.

People say everything happens for a reason. I took a difficult situation and turned it into something positive. Health looks different for everyone and when it comes to diets; there is no one-size fits all approach.

I want to help people live their best life by eating a WHOLESOME meal plan, indulging in moderation, and crushing their goals all at once. Food is medicine and, along with herbal supplements, can truly transform the body from the inside out.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I love what I do and I truly believe that my passion shows through my work. I am lucky to have a business where I can put the lessons learned from my journey to use and help people by identifying problems and developing individual meal plans and herbal supplement recommendations to help reverse damage and promote sustainable health.

It can be challenging, though. I truly believe nothing great comes easy. We live in a “now” generation. People want instant feedback, instant results, and quick weight loss. My clients learn how to heal from the inside out. Be You Be Wholesome is a lifestyle approach to health and wellness. It is different for each individual because every human body has a unique chemistry with slightly different needs. I believe in identifying the problem, ascertaining the cause, and then promoting healing and optimizing long-term health.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Be You Be Wholesome story. Tell us more about the business.
Be You Be Wholesome is not only about weight loss and health foods; it is, moreover, the map for an overall wellness journey to help individuals understand their bodies and make choices that allow them to thrive and live their best life. I have developed the tools and provide the necessary support to teach my clients how to nourish their bodies to feel their best.

My goal for BYBW is to provide educated support and knowledge for individuals who need guidance when it comes to healing their bodies. This is not a 30-day challenge; it is not about deprivation or cutting out favorite foods. My method teaches a healthy mindset for a lifetime of health and happiness. It is about learning your own body and learning to fuel it with proper nutrition. It allows individuals to indulge in their favorite foods in moderation, teaches portion control, and ultimately changes the way the client thinks about food.

At Be You Be Wholesome, we take pride in developing a healthy relationship with food and choosing high-quality fuel for the body, allowing it to perform its best. Once a client stops obsessing about exterior goals and starts working on healing from the inside out, the real changes start happening; that is when someone begins living a wholesome lifestyle. Then, before you know it, the body starts working efficiently to heal itself and those exterior changes emerge.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least about our city?
I moved to California almost 10 years ago and I immediately fell in love. My husband and I love being outdoors and staying active. Since the sun is shining the majority of the year and it is almost always 75 degrees, it is hard to stay inside and “veg”. I have also have met so many like-minded people who are now dear friends because most everyone shows an interest in health and fitness in San Diego. There is always something active to do, whether it is trying a new sport or seeking out an outdoor adventure.

If I had to choose one thing to dislike, it would be absolutely nothing! I really do love living in San Diego and everything it has to offer.
