Today we’d like to introduce you to William “Bill” Silver.
William, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Starting with a high school variety show experience of being hypnotized for the first time, my spiritual path took me through many healing modalities and healer experiences throughout my life. I worked with a Filipino psychic surgeon, a spiritual faith healer, various channelers of spiritual beings, a stint with craniosacral therapies and eventually with some down to earth “tapping” techniques, often called EFT (emotional freedom technique) or TFT (thought field therapy). These are highly effective processes at neutralizing many PTSD symptoms and their causes. I have focused on doing EFT work for the past 30 years, doing sessions live and over the phone/Skype.
Using the other side of my Gemini mind, I was raised with a good sense of mechanical adeptness which led me to 3 years of auto mechanics classes in high school. I spent a period of student teaching in Jr. College, worked in various auto agencies and repair facilities and eventually became the transportation supervisor at the San Diego Zoo. A rider since I was 18, motorcycles were an integral part of my life, which continues to this day. I have researched the 1960s Honda models and have written several books on the history of Honda motorcycles dating back to 1948, which was the year I was born. I adapted the moniker “MrHonda” from friends who saw many bikes come and go through my hands in the past 50 years. The total headcount is somewhere around 400 units of cars and motorcycles which I have owned, bought and sold.
Has it been a smooth road?
I’m not sure that any life has a “smooth road,” especially in the realms of alternative healing practices. I have tried many avenues of healing, most of which have had some form of positive effect on various levels. Despite the proven effectiveness of the “tapping” EFT healing work, people tend to dismiss it as being some kind of misdirection or temporary relief, where I have found that most of my sessions are “one and done,” with permanent relief of symptoms and nagging traumatic memories. It isn’t a very left-brained experience, but the body knows that there is an innate power of this type of energy work. I have used it effectively to heal 30+ years of phobias like fear of heights, etc with clients of all ages. Positive results can be achieved within 5 minutes on simple issues.
My lifetime of motorcycle riding/racing has put me in the hospital on three occasions, due to compound fractures, multiple fractures of my right arm and a blown-out ACL/PCL in my left knee. I have two artificial knees now and a fused ankle, but continue to ride and enjoy helping others repair their machines or just learn more about their motorcycles. My blog, highlighting the challenges and rewards of repairing and restoring vintage Honda motorcycles is: http://www.mrhonda.guru/
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Back to Balance AND VintageHonda publishing. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Back to Balance, I specialize in assisting my clients to overcome addictions, phobias, grief, sadness, fear and unhelpful behaviors without the need to spend countless hours in therapy and thousands of dollars in search of real relief for many emotional-driven behaviors. These easy-to-learn “tapping techniques” can be self-applied after an initial session. I love to see the trans-formative looks on my client’s faces, as they plow through their fears and have a new understanding of their own limitations and blocks to health and success. You can literally see the sense of relaxation and how they are able to put those “ah-ha” moments into positive action going forward.
At VintageHonda, I am able to coach, instruct and enlighten my fellow motorcycle enthusiasts from almost all corners of the world. My Honda Buyer’s Guide (Motorbooks, 2000) sold 5,000 copies worldwide. The book was revised and reprinted in 2012 and continues to be offered on Amazon and through other book outlets. With a new generation of enthusiasts who have little to go on in the way of concise history and repair methods concerning vintage Honda motorcycles, I am able to provide digital downloads to fill in all the blanks of their many questions. My current publications include “Classic Honda Motorcycles” (Octane Press) and “The History of the Honda Scrambler,” a self-published book. My moniker “MrHonda” is recognized around the world as a resource of information and assistance.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Upsides:
I was born and raised in San Diego. I went to the same high school that my parents attended! San Diego has always been known for its amazing weather, beautiful beaches, and laid-back lifestyles through generations. And there are miles and miles of motorcycle-friendly roads to explore and enjoy with my friends. Almost all of my immediate family members, including my daughter and her husband, my grand kids, my sister, brother and mother are all within an hour’s drive from Spring Valley. It’s a blessing to have my family all so close at hand.
Downsides:
Certainly, the city and county have become over-burdened with commuters who have made 85 the new 65mph on the highways. Unfortunately, their driving capabilities aren’t a match for their car’s capabilities.
The South Bay sewage overflow issues that come from Mexico are abhorrent and have been neglected for many, many years. The Federal government needs to take a stand and clean up this situation in cooperation with Mexico.
