Meet Willie V.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie V.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Ever since eighth grade, I was always listening to music. It would either be Lupe Fiasco or Michael Jackson, and I would imagine myself performing on stage with them, or performing their songs on stage. In high school, I started writing poetry and would always do that as a form of expressing myself which has always helped me through my tough times. Sophomore year, I started making beats just for fun and would be doing that for hours a day every day after school. On top of that, I always had an ear for music, but it wasn’t until my sophomore year in college when I said I wanted to start making music after looking back and truly evaluating my life which has led me up to this point today.

Please tell us about your art.
I am a music artist. I don’t make the beats, but I am the lyricist of the whole equation. I don’t know how I create my songs, they honestly just come to me whenever they feel like it, I just remain open to whatever comes my way. I started to make music to help people through life just like it’s always helped me. So through the words, I say, and through the whole vibe of each song, I hope to affect people positively. All you need to know about what I make is that it’s not going to be like something you’ve heard before, at least from my point of view.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I don’t believe the role of an artist truly ever changes. Everybody is their unique individual and shouldn’t be expected to do things other people want. As an artist, we’re here to give our point of view on life in a creative way, and that’s it. Giving our gift to the world the best way we know how is our only obligation. That being said, I don’t talk about outside issues too often. I believe the best thing you can change is yourself and that will allow you to operate in this world much more effectively. So the main things you will hear from me are my issues how I overcame them

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
People can see my work on Apple Music, Spotify, SoundCloud, and every music streaming service you can think of. However, I have more songs on SoundCloud than anywhere else. You can support me by listening to the songs, that’s the main thing. If you choose to support financially, that’s your choice, but that’s not something I’m worried about. Just enjoy the creation 🙂
