Meet Xavier Masse of Kalyxo Web

Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier Masse.

Hi Xavier, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in France, and my parents were both travel agents at the time. I was lucky enough to travel to many places in the US from a young age—you could say I grew up with the American Dream!

Fast forward to 2009: I had just finished a long contract job and decided to spend a month-long vacation in San Diego. I completely fell in love with the city. One year later, I entered the green card lottery and couldn’t believe my luck when I got picked a few months later. I had just started working at a digital marketing company in Paris… another dream of mine, but not quite my American Dream. So I quit, saved as much money as I could, and packed my bags.

From there, I went from one job to the next (most of them average, some terrible), until 2016 when I got hired at another marketing agency, this time in the city of my dreams. After six wonderful years learning the ins and outs of digital marketing and web development, I decided to leave and start my own company, Kalyxo Web. My goal: making professional websites and ongoing maintenance affordable for small businesses that deserve a strong online presence.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not smooth! After winning the green card lottery, reality hit hard. I got laid off from my first job after a year and struggled to find my footing in a new country. I cycled through several employers ; some mediocre, some absolutely terrible. One cut my salary by 25% after just two weeks, before I could even settle in.

It took landing at a good agency in 2016 to finally know and experience what a healthy work environment looked like. After six amazing years there, I felt ready to build something of my own, on my own terms. I make sure my clients know exactly what they’re getting and what it costs upfront. No surprises two weeks in.

As you know, we’re big fans of Kalyxo Web. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Kalyxo Web, we believe getting a website up and running shouldn’t break the bank. We build high-quality, affordable websites for small businesses. You can get a full website with unlimited updates for $149 to $275/month with $0 down.

Our websites are built for performance and accessibility. They load lightning-fast (which helps with Google rankings) and work seamlessly for all users, including those with disabilities. Speed and accessibility aren’t extras, they’re standard.

What sets us apart: Transparent pricing from day one. No surprises, no massive upfront costs, no upselling services you don’t need. You know exactly what you’re getting and what it costs before we start.

What I’m proud of: So far, clients have told me their final websites exceeded their expectations. That’s the reputation I’m working to maintain with every project.

What readers should know: If you’ve been putting off a website redesign because you’re worried about cost or getting burned by another developer, let’s talk. I’ll give you a straight answer about what you actually need—no upselling, no tech jargon.

What were you like growing up?
I was quite shy and a bit of a geek: I promised my mom I’d build robots to do the chores, I loved video games, and I got my own computer at age 13. Turns out I didn’t become a robotics engineer, but that early love of problem-solving and building things stuck with me.
