Today we’d like to introduce you to Xzavier Burton.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started really my sophomore of college, I was finally getting the hang of things with school but I also realized that I wanted to start some sort of business of my own. Seeing as though most of my close friends already had something going for themselves whether it was obtaining their real estate license or diving into videography. So it was about time I found something for myself and it took me a substantial amount of time to figure things out but it struck me when I was outside one day giving my own car a detail.
I have the passion for cars, I have a decent amount of connections, I know how to market myself through social media and other platforms, why not just offer a service to people that I’m very familiar with. Considering the fact that I already had the supplies ready, the only other thing that was holding me back was the pricing for my services. Yet, being the resourceful person that I am I decided to run to the internet and do some research in which I concluded that some of the prices were entirely too high for the cost of living in San Diego. So I set my own prices, reached out to a few people and got going.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With any good business, there is always going to be ups and downs. For my business, in particular, the issue I find mainly is bringing in more clientele. I am still expanding at the moment so I definitely have my drought periods, sometimes it’s only for a few days other times it can go for a few months, yet that has not stopped me. I am constantly seeking ways to reach out to others.
Xcellentdetailing – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
So my business, Xcellent Detailing, is an automotive detailing service that offers quality results for affordable prices. I offer seat cleaning and stain removal, deep vacuuming, and an abundance of other services which is all included in different packages. I think I’m most known for producing results that would normally cost hundreds of dollars at any detailing shop for half the price. I am definitely most proud of being consistent with my marketing. Every time I complete a vehicle, I post the “before and after” of my work across all main social media platforms. I believe the main thing which sets me apart from my competitors is how I utilize my social media to connect with my clients on a more personal level.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Consistency, I believe heavily that consistency is the key to most success. Let’s say that you create a product that is completely revolutionary and unlike anything on the planet but you only make one of these, now your competitor creates a similar product but ends up creating thousands of the product for a reasonable price, who do you believe is going to become more successful. This doesn’t only apply to business but as well as life, the one who quits will never succeed and the one who never quits will never fail.
