We recently had the chance to connect with Mrs. Viviane Hagopian and have shared our conversation below.
Viviane, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
It’s the little things in life that count. Enjoying a chai latte or mocha are always a delight but what really hits home is visiting my daughter in San Francisco. She’s almost done with her PhD and it makes me so happy to have our whole family together every once in awhile. Those are the wholesome moments that mean the most.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’ve been an accountant my whole life and own a local family firm called V&R Associates. We’re expanding day by day and the way we treat our clients is what truly makes a difference. We offer accounting, bookkeeping and tax preparation services for individuals and especially all types of companies and sizes. We holistically analyze their entire business situation to help them formulate the best strategies for growth and development. However, we have the extra human element that often other professionals miss. Sometimes numbers don’t tell the whole story as each business has an owner who’s lives are different. Deeply getting to know each of our clients and how they are as individuals, helps us truly formulate a tailored plan that works for them, their goals, and their lifestyles.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Communication both breaks and restores bonds between people and relationships long-term. This is truly important in everyday life and business as well. Open communication and transparency build trust and are vital aspects that can’t be dismissed.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
My biggest fear was the loss of a tight family lifestyle. This is another reason I began my accounting business when I was pregnant with my first born. I wanted to create the lifestyle that would allow me to be there for my children, watch them grow everyday and truly be the best mom I could be. My family is always my priority.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes it is! The only small difference is I’m a little more business formal when I’m working. Otherwise, I’m the authentic self I always am. My values show through my daily life, even at work so you can trust that the Viviane you speak to, is the same Viviane after hours and on the weekends.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would organize the family business to transfer all of it to my daughter, Thalia. Then, I would travel more. The accounting industry can get very stressful, especially tax season, so by taking the actions I just described, not only would I reduce some of that stress, but I’d help and spend more time with my family.
