We recently had the chance to connect with Paul Tolentino and have shared our conversation below.
Paul , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, what’s been bringing me joy is getting back into a solid routine I just joined a new gym and have been enjoying those early morning workouts to start the day right. I’ve also been spending more quality time with family and friends, which has really helped me recharge, relax, and come back to work with more energy and a clearer mindset.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a top-producing Realtor in San Diego, known for my dedication, professionalism, and proven results. Recognized as a top producer for four consecutive years, I’ve built my reputation on delivering exceptional service and consistently exceeding client expectations.
Before real estate, I worked in finance as a Private Client Banker at JP Morgan Chase, where I developed a strong foundation in financial markets and investment strategy. That experience allows me to guide my clients with a data-driven and strategic approach helping them make confident, well-informed real estate decisions.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about travel, fitness, and spending quality time with family and friends. Exploring new places and cultures has given me a broader perspective that helps me connect with people from all walks of life.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The person who saw me clearly before I could see myself was my mom. She always believed in my potential, even when I doubted myself. Her constant support and encouragement gave me the confidence to take risks, work hard, and pursue the career and life I have today.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the biggest defining wounds in my life was losing my job at JP Morgan Chase. I had spent nearly 10 years there, worked my way up, and even became a top banker for four years in a row so losing it felt like the rug was pulled out from under me. It shook my confidence and forced me to rethink everything.
I healed by leaning into resilience and diving headfirst into real estate, a career that reignited my passion. Helping people achieve their goals now gives me energy and purpose every day. That experience didn’t break me it pushed me to grow, and it shaped me into the person I am today: stronger, more focused, and truly aligned with what I love to do.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I truly admire my husband, Eduardo Hernandez, for his incredible character. He has this natural joy and humor that lights up every room, always making sure those around him feel happy and included. What I admire most is how unapologetically himself he is. In a world where so many people feel the need to perform or impress, he shows his true self every single day. Watching him live with such authenticity and warmth is inspiring, and it’s his character – the kindness, the joy, the authenticity—that I love and admire most.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who always tried to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around me. Throughout my life, I’ve made it a priority to help people not just in big moments, but in the everyday ways that truly matter. Whether it was guiding a client to their dream home, supporting a friend through a tough decision, or being there for family when they needed me most, I’ve always wanted to lift others up and make sure they were in a strong, positive position in life.
More than any achievements or accolades, I hope the story people tell about me is one of care, integrity, and generosity. That I was someone who genuinely listened, encouraged, and gave people the confidence to pursue their dreams. I want to be remembered not just for what I accomplished, but for the way I made others feel seen, supported, and empowered. If my life leaves even a small ripple of kindness and inspiration, I’d consider that the greatest success of all.
