We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rachel Zazueta . Check out our conversation below.
Rachel , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I’d say integrity is the most important to me. I value trust, respect, and doing things in a way that aligns with my principles, both personally and professionally. Energy and intelligence matter, sure, but without integrity, they don’t carry the same weight in my eyes. Energy fuels my journey. Intelligence guides my path but for me integrity is a non-negotiable, it’s the foundation for any meaningful connection or success.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Rachel, and I’m a hairstylist and makeup artist, and the owner of Brava Glow Beauty Salon at Plaza Bonita. I have an international background, having worked across many countries in Europe with different cultures and styles, and now I’m based in the U.S. My roots are Mexican, and my family has always been my biggest inspiration and support. I created my salon with the vision of not just offering beauty services, but also creating a space where clients feel confident, cared for, and truly seen. Professionalism and respect are very important to me, and what makes my brand special is the personal touch I put heart into every service and also love mentoring and inspiring others who are starting in the beauty industry. Right now, I’m focused on growing my salon, expanding the services we offer, and building a community around beauty, confidence, and empowerment.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
In life and in my work, I believe bonds are broken when there’s a lack of respect or care, and they’re restored through professionalism, kindness, and integrity and the personal touch I bring to every client because beauty is not just about the outside, it’s about making people feel valued and seen.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the defining wounds of my life has been loss losing loved ones who were very close to me. Those moments left a deep mark, but they also taught me strength and resilience. I’ve healed through my family, my faith, and my passion for beauty and now business , which has given me a way to create joy and confidence in others while finding healing for myself.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A belief I’m committed to, no matter how long it takes, is that beauty is more than appearance, it’s about confidence, respect, and bringing people together. My lifelong project is to grow my salon into a thriving business and a community where clients and future artists can be inspired, mentored, and empowered through beauty.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I feel like I’m doing what I was born to do. I discovered my true passion in beauty and also through running my business. It’s a combination of creativity, connection, and growth that feels authentic to who I am, not just something I was told to do. Growing my brand is truly my passion and what I love.
