Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Bustos
Hi Alexis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story starts pretty early! My mom always tells me I was a very outgoing and personable baby, always chatting with everyone. Apparently, people even suggested I should be in movies or modeling. That kind of planted a seed, and when I was five, I signed with CESD in Los Angeles, and then Elegance Talent in Carlsbad shortly after. I was fortunate enough to have representation with both agencies.
My very first job was modeling for a backpack company called Puku Pals, and I absolutely loved it! Being in front of the camera just felt natural. From there, things really took off. I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of diverse experiences. I walked the runway at FIDM Debut, modeled for a shoe store and numerous other companies, and I’ve worked in commercials, short films, a music video, TV shows, and even a YouTube series. I’ve also done a lot of print work.
I feel incredibly blessed to have accomplished so much, especially knowing how competitive the entertainment industry is. I definitely don’t take any audition or booking for granted. Each opportunity is a chance to learn and grow, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, like any career, especially in the entertainment industry, it definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. I’ve been incredibly fortunate with all the opportunities I’ve had, but there have been challenges along the way. One of the biggest struggles as I got older was the audition rejections. You put your heart and soul into an audition, and sometimes you don’t even get a callback. Learning to handle that rejection and not take it personally was a big hurdle. I know it’s part of this business and it’s made me a stronger person!
The entertainment industry is very competitive- even for kids. There are so many talented people out there, and you’re constantly working to improve and stand out. That can be challenging, but it also pushes me to be better and work harder. I’ve learned that perseverance and a positive attitude are key. Even when things get tough, I try to focus on the positives and keep moving forward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an almost “13-year-old” actress and model. My professional experience includes appearing in commercials for companies like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Knott’s Berry Farm and Ring Doorbell to name a few. I find it very rewarding to see my work come to life on television and in places like Knott’s Berry Farm. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made in my career so far.
A characteristic that I believe sets me apart is my ability to portray a wide range of ethnicities due to my ambiguous appearance.
