Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Bramasco.
Hi Andrew, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all began as my time in community college was coming to an end. I was studying computer science and having a lot of fun with it, but I knew I wanted to be in the arts in some form or another. It was around that time I got into photography.
I was putting in countless hours working in a glass factory that made decorative panels and was spending every waking moment away from work taking pictures. I wasn’t making any money with photography then. It was all for fun and practice. I met so many friends that way. It was a special time in my life.
A couple years later, I saw a position posted for an in-house real estate photographer online and decided I’d give it a shot even though I didn’t have any experience in it. Who would have known it would be a gateway to where I am now.
I got to see some of the most incredible homes I could imagine. In reality was, these were more exquisite than anything I had imagined up until that point. I got to shoot them, and I sucked at it. It took a while to start learning the ins and outs, especially in 2006, before the wealth of knowledge that exists on the internet today was around.
Eventually, the housing market crashed, and I found myself out of a staffed position and at a crossroads. So, I decided to go into business for myself and opened my doors January 1st, 2012. It was surreal, and I was so inspired to conquer this new frontier.
It’s been over 11 years since that happened. Little by little and day by day, I’ve grown and learned. The industry has changed a lot since I started. It used to be a very lonely place, and now there are loads of people and resources here. There’s a strong sense of community and shared knowledge that has made learning so much more exciting. I’m excited to say that I love what I do now more than ever.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s had its ups and downs. The hardest part is the grind. I spent a solid 5 years of my life working from the time I woke up to the time I went to sleep 7 days a week. It was worth it, but I got burned out. I learned a lot from it and have a much healthier balance now.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a photographer and videographer. I specialize in architectural and real estate and have been making a big leap into lifestyle imagery centered around the same subject.
I’m best known for my work in real estate photography here in Southern California. I’ve been on the scene since 2006, working with some of the most influential agents around. It’s been an incredible journey.
I think what I’m most proud of is my ability to adapt and grow. The industry changes rapidly, and falling behind on what’s current is easier to do than I’d like to admit. I’ve been able to continue to trailblaze throughout the years by keeping up to speed both artistically and technologically.
What does success mean to you?
For me, success is a getting to do what I love as an intertwined extension of my life. I don’t look at waking up for sunrise and shooting through twilight as a chore but rather as a privilege that I get to be a part of this machine, and in return, I get to live a fulfilling life that I enjoy.
