Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Friedrich.
Hi Anita, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I love this questions as I never thought I will be doing photography when I was a child. It all started out as a hobby and it evolved gradually, years by years. I started landscape photography almost 10 years ago. Things got more serious when I moved to San Diego and explored this beautiful city. The beauty of San Diego and the amazing winter sunsets inspired me to go out and capture almost every night. This hobby became very addictive and I literally found myself chasing sunsets 5-6 times a week. Every time I was looking for hidden gems, secret and unique beaches in San Diego. After I started to explore Orange Country and some parts of LA. Meanwhile I was pursuing my degree in Arts and Graphic Design. This passion grew quickly and I blow up on Instagram with my photos. I ended up adding photography as my major and I graduated with an Associate Degree in Arts, in photography and in graphic design.

My work got accomplished by other artist, and I was able to have many art shows from 2018 until today which I am very proud of.
Currently, I work as a full-time photographer and an editor. I work with many talented artists and I am very grateful for this and do to what I love; hold my camera and capture amazing moments!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every beginning is rough especially in a new field I have never ventured before. The biggest challenge is to sacrifice lots of time. To really learn and engage with the art. There were days when I was out waiting for a breathtaking sunset but it just did not happen. Finding mentors were not easy as well. I had to be out and socialize to meet great artists then ask their advice and experience.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a photographer specializing in capturing the beauty of San Diego, and California. My images really showcase the vibe of California, lots of vibrant sunsets, surfers, classic cars and and many more.
They all have a special meaning for me, I remember clearly every single photo I took and the circumstances with locations. I travel a lot to create new images and locations for my audience. I recently got back from Hawaii, Big islands, Maui and Kauai. It was an absolute dream, and I will showcase few of those images for this article.
One thing sets me apart from others is the way I think. I am European and the mix of cultures and experiences I have expanded my vision when it comes to photography and my learning curve. The amount of time I spent outside shooting and getting to know my camera is a huge part of it.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories are the family vacations when we all have fun and explore something new. I clearly remember I always took a mini old point and shoot Canon camera with me to capture those moments.
