Rising Stars: Meet Audrey Klemp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Klemp.

Audrey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a self-taught video producer and content strategist, and I’ve spent the last decade building that skill set the hard way: through trial, error, and a lot of hours behind the camera. I never went through a formal program. I learned by doing the work, watching what performed, and adjusting.
My path started with travel. I spent time living out of a van, driving around the country shooting product photography for outdoor brands. That work taught me how to problem-solve on location with limited setup time and unpredictable conditions, skills that still shape how I approach every shoot today.
From there I got my FAA Part 107 drone certification not long after, which opened up aerial content as a core part of what I offer.
Now I run Audrey in Focus, producing video and content strategy for tourism boards, golf courses, and hospitality brands.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not smooth, no. Teaching myself this business meant learning things the expensive way: buying gear I didn’t need, misjudging pricing, taking on projects that didn’t value my time properly. There was no mentor handing me a roadmap. I built the roadmap by making mistakes and paying attention to what actually worked.

Being a one-person operation also means every role falls on me: shooting, editing, strategy, sales, invoicing. There’s no department to hand things off to. I’ve had to build systems and habits that let me keep quality high without burning out, and I’m still refining that balance.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m FAA Part 107 certified, so drone footage is a core part of my work. My services cover the full pipeline: production, editing, social media management, and content strategy, organized around three pillars I call Capture, Production, and Strategy. I’m known for coordinating complex, multi-location shoots under real logistical pressure.

The project I’m proudest of is a fireworks shoot for the Daytona Beach tourism board, capturing aerial and ground footage across multiple sites in one coordinated production that required tight timing and drone operation in a live event environment. The results came out great and I really loved the whole process.

I understand my clients firsthand. That authenticity shows up in my work, and clients notice it. I offer a range of skills that’s rare to find in a single hire. I live these “marketable lifestyles.” By traveling and working with golf courses and tourism boards, I’m not selling a dream, I’m living it.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If you’re building something on your own, whether it’s a business, a skill, or a body of work, know that the road doesn’t have to be linear or conventional to get you somewhere real. I never followed a set path, and I’m still figuring parts of it out. What’s mattered most is staying consistent, paying attention to what works, and being honest about what I bring to the table versus what I’m still building. Mindset is everything.
