Today we’d like to introduce you to Beaver Fleming
Hi Beaver, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started skateboarding in Knoxville, TN where I was born and raised around the age of 9. Skateboarding wasn’t popular there at all at the time so I remember being introduced through Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 and saying “these guys are flying ( I think that’s every kids dream) and they were using the skateboard to launch and fly so I said that’s what I am going to do. Watching so many skate videos and always dreaming off being in San Diego where most were filmed at skateparks and spots its incredible that there are over 60 skateparks in the county. My family would take trips and skatepark stops were a must. At the time I turned 17 I had the opportunity to attended an action sports boarding school through Camp Woodward in Tehachapi, CA that’s where I connected with Travis Pastrana and became a part of the Nitro Circus Crew. I have been traveling with them for the past 12 years and competing in professional events all over the world. I currently live in Carlsbad with my wife and our son Oliver who will be 2 in March. We love the community and culture of San Diego Surf, Skate, Commitment to health and vitality its truly the dreamland.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggles along the way consist of adversity, hardships, injuries, etc. So many things I think that’s the joy in life to see what we are truly capable of and the obstacles we face are really opportunities to grow. I remember when making the move to California I was leaving everything familiar and comfortable in pursuit of a dream I wasn’t sure how it was possible but I knew it had to be. Injuries one of the worst was a few years ago I tore my ACL and had to have full reconstruction on it the day before one of our biggest Nitro Circus tours in Australia. That was a long 7 months off the board questioning many things but what I learned in that time of uncertainty was to trust the process and take it one day at a time. In that season a phrase I live by came about. “If we make the most of our day… We will make the most of our life.

In my skate career I have had a unique approach allowing me to invent many tricks and tricks that were only thought possible in video games . I would say the biggest being the first and only to do a double backflip on a skateboard.
I love sharing my story and values I’ve practiced that have allowed me to have a successful career with schools and youth groups to encourage them to pursue their passion
