Rising Stars: Meet Belita Butler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Belita Butler.

Hi Belita, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Greetings, I am Belita, a Special Events & Wedding Stylist, Owner & Creative Director of Beyond magazine, who loves to create and design beautiful images for people, places and things. Energized by decorating, inspired by fashion and influenced by beautiful colors, I am a vision enhancer that will catapult an event from ordinary to extraordinary. Taking client’s personal ideas and visions and turning them into reality is what I do best. If you don’t have a clue or any idea, I can certainly help you solve that dilemma and produce a plan that will motivate exactly what you desire for your special occasion. With a background, experience and three degrees that each support every area of what I do (Degrees in Fashion, Journalism and Event Management), I am truly the cliche of “Love What You Do and Do What you Love.” My love for all things beautiful continues and has followed me throughout my entire 20+ years’ experience in the Event industry. It is so exhilarating to see the awe in the eyes of the client after reviewing my event design. It is rewarding to know all the planning and coordinating produced an enjoyable special day that created memories for family, friends and special guests that last a lifetime. Understanding that any special event requires the highest level of service and meticulous attention to details, I am sure that we can create an amazing collaboration that will provide the components for an experience “Above The Ordinary… Beyond Expectations”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has been full of challenging expectations and good expectations. -Early challenges: 20 years ago I was nervous about launching out on my own. Will I have enough resources, will I make any will I find the right clients, will I make any money, will I have the ability to sustain and last? -Good Expectations: From my 1st client to the current clients, my work was always admired, the client was always thrilled that the production went beyond their expectations. But I had to learn to delegate and bring along side me others that had more experience or expertise in the areas where I had weaknesses.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an event stylist that can take a desire, a client vision and make that vision come alive. The area that I shine in is style and design. I have the capability to create beauty for people, places and things. Whether I’m choosing an outfit for a bride and/or her mother, whether I’m taking a high powered male business executive and decorating his newly purchased condo or creating an event that is beautiful in design, food selection, everything inspires memories.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
San Diego has the best of so much. Great venues, amazing hotels, incredible food/restaurants, plethora of places to visit, beaches, and the best year round weather. The city can be expensive to live in. More diversity in every sector is needed.
