Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianne Garcia.
Brianne, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started off as a Licensed Esthetician. I started off working for some local salons. Within a year I move to working under a doctor in a Medical Spa. I learned a lot in the Medical Spa setting which lead me to my specialty in advanced results driven facials. After that I was hired at the Away Spa located in the W Hotel, San Diego. During facial services clients would comment a lot regarding my massage skills Clients would say my massage portion of the facial was really good and that I should become a massage therapist. I was very interested in learning as much as I could to add more value to my facials and clients. Originally I was interested in attending more facial massage trainings to add to my facials. God had another plan. My supervisor at the time noticed my strong work ethic. She encouraged me to go back to school to obtain my massage therapy licensed so I could be booked with both massage and facial clients. It was a sacrifice. I had to give up my evenings for school but it was worth it in the end! While I was in school and working at the spa. I was also being trained at the spa to take massage clients as soon as I was able to.
In regard’s to my mobile services. Once people I knew found out about me becoming an Esthetician. Mobile services were requested to help them achieve their skin care goals. I was able to help my clients transform their skin. I loved it and my clients were happy. Clients would ask me for referrals for a mobile massage therapist. Becoming dual licensed made perfect sense. I could see the need and benefit. Now I was able to offer my clients massage and facial services in one appointment. This helped my clients stay consistent with high quality service and save time.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has never been smooth. I have had a lot of challenges. The biggest struggle has always been the inconsistency in being provided with work while I worked as an employee for Spas. They call it, “Feast or Famine.” I had to be 100 percent committed to my shift. However, Whether I would be booked or not all depended on business. There were many days where I was put “on-call.” I was given an hour notice if a client booked an appointment. I would regularly be told not to come in. Some days there was not work. Other days would have gaps in my shift not booked. I worked all over the County. I worked in every type of Skin Care/Massage therapy setting. Only to find out it was all the same. No business could keep me booked my whole shift. Which resulted in coming in early, staying late, coming in on my “off” days. In order to he booked 50% of the time. I had to sacrifice 100% of my time. There were busy days, weeks, months and slow days, weeks, seasons. As an employee this instability eventually lead me into full time mobile services and entrepreneurship. For years I was 100% committed to my place of employment. This created a struggle with opportunities for and availability for my mobile clients. Sometimes clients would want to book a certain time when I was scheduled at my job. I would have to turn them away not knowing if my job would even provide me with work during those hours. Early in my career I saw that flexibility was required at my jobs to make up for the days I did not have work. In the same regard. I eventually realized I needed to apply the same worth ethic and flexibility into building my own full time mobile clientele. This would give me more of a passion again to help clients achieve maximum results. Taking a leap of faith and transitioning into full time mobile services allowed me to have the flexibility to serve more clients, accommodate their busy schedules, service more clients through the County and have the downtime to utilize.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a dual licensed Esthetician and Massage Therapist. I am known for my attention to detail. For listening to clients and customizing facials to meet their skin care goals. I strive to deliver the best possible results. When it comes to massage I specialize in pain management, lymphatic drainage and prenatal massage. I customize massages to my client’s individual needs. My clients feel up to 90% improvement with just one massage. I listen to my clients concerns and create their massage to target their tension and pain.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
