Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Spratley.
Hi Catherine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Seattle, Washington, then in 2020, I moved to Orange County, California. I used to go to California every summer and loved it; I love the ocean. I’ve always been interested in the entertainment industry; I’ve been taking acting classes since I was eleven, learning video production, and even learning about working backstage in theater. I enjoy watching plays and musicals, and I’ve slowly started to reawaken my desire to act in films. Learning more has really given me the confidence to try new things like getting more experience in on a film set.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My mother, who had kidney disease when I was little, passed away when I was 14 years old. When people ask me about my role model, I always say my mother because she made me want to follow my heart and do what makes me happy. She also enjoys making people laugh and worked in radio before I was born. The majority of the acting content I create for social media are comedy skits, and since I find it challenging to make people laugh, so it’s great when I receive positive feedback. It was really tough for me after she passed, but my friends and family helped me get through it, and I want to continue to make her proud.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work part-time currently but making acting videos is something I enjoy doing when I have a lot of free time. I’ve been making content for about two years, and what I am most proud of is the audience I’ve built. I find acting to be quite fun. I like to practice my facial expressions and memorization, and I’ve been considering working as a background or extra to gain more experience on the set because I’ve done primarily theatre in the past. I believe what separates me from others is that, despite my introverted nature and laid-back persona, I have a creative mind and not too nervous when standing in front of large crowds, so I’m used to stepping outside of my comfort zone.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
People who know me personally would describe me as being very sweet and caring. I really love music and can listen to almost any genre. I’m thinking about learning how to play an instrument at some point. Growing up, I was very quiet and shy, and taking acting classes really helped me open up to people. I love all kinds of animals, and when I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. I also love to travel, and I hope one day to see all the places I had planned to see. in my opinion It’s important to explore because there are so many beautiful sites to visit.
