Today we’d like to introduce you to CeCe Bloum.
Hi CeCe, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Thrive was started in 2014 by a group of dog-loving equestrians. We started by getting dogs out of the local San Diego shelters, bringing them to horse shows in our area and finding them great homes. Horse people are amazing dog owners.
We grew from there due to the generous support and encouragement of our local horse community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth may not be the word I would use…lol but definitely rewarding and an amazing learning experience. We struggled with wanting to save every dog that needed a home but realized we had a limit as to how many we could take in at a time in order to give them the love and attention they each deserve.
We quickly became familiar with the health and behavior issues that some rescue dogs come with and how we can best support them.
Our facility is now up and running and we have a better understanding of the type of dogs our adopters are looking for and how our organization can support our adopters through the process.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We love matching dogs with their humans! It brings us so much joy to see a Thrive dog thriving in their forever home.
We have saved so many dogs over the years and those dogs have enhanced their owner’s lives. Getting pictures and emails with updates from our adopters is the best!
We have been able to provide medical care to lots of dogs in need and our forever foster program is something we are very proud of. We are able to save older dogs from the shelters and place them in loving foster homes where Thrive covers the expense of their care to keep them comfortable and happy for the rest of their lives.
How do you define success?
A dog that is thriving in their forever home!!
