We, Karla and Angelica, are longtime friends and family who shared a passion for storytelling and empowering people’s voices. We joined forces to create the Chicas & Chisme Podcast in April 2022. What started as late-night chats over wine soon evolved into a full-fledged podcast that resonated with audiences far and wide. In each episode of the Chicas & Chisme podcast, we dive into a range of topics, from pop culture trends and personal anecdotes to discussions on self-care, mental health, parenting, relationships, and career advice. Our witty banter, genuine camaraderie, and our real talk create a welcoming space where listeners feel like they’re chatting with close friends. Over the past two years, we, through the Chicas & Chisme podcast, have built a loyal following of listeners who tune in weekly to laugh, learn, and feel inspired by our conversations. The podcast has become a hub for a diverse community of women and men who find solace, validation, and empowerment in the stories shared by us and special guests on the show. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
During the development of the podcast we encountered struggles that we have since overcome. It has not been a smooth ride. In the early days of crafting the Chicas & Chisme podcast, we found ourselves immersed in a world of technological complexities that seemed daunting at first. From mastering audio recording and editing tools to understanding the nuances of podcast distribution platforms, we embarked on a crash course in tech literacy that demanded patience, perseverance, and a willingness to learn from trial and error. As we honed our craft and honed our on-air chemistry, we grappled with the challenge of clarifying our podcast’s vision and purpose. Through soul-searching conversations and a shared commitment to authenticity, we dove deep into what the Chicas & Chisme Podcast stood for, refining our message and ensuring that each episode resonated with our audience on a profound level. Setting up a business around our podcast proved to be a steep learning curve for us. We navigated the intricacies of branding, marketing, and financial management with a DIY spirit and a relentless work ethic. From crafting business plans to securing sponsorships and partnerships, we embraced the entrepreneurial spirit, building our podcast from the ground up and establishing a thriving brand that reflects our vision and values. Throughout our journey, we faced these challenges alone, relying on our mutual support, unwavering friendship, and shared passion for storytelling to propel us forward. With no roadmap to follow and no safety net to rely on, we embraced the uncertainty of entrepreneurship, forging our path in the podcasting world through sheer determination and a steadfast belief in our mission.
