Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Violet.
Hi Claudia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always dabbled with painting, but it wasn’t until I found myself as a substitute teacher that I began gravitating towards teaching art classes. Not necessarily because I felt like I had talent, but because I enjoyed helping students explore with their creativity. I had the privilege of teaching a middle school art class for bit, which led me to play and explore with different mediums. It was here that I discovered my love for contemporary and abstract art. This is where my colorful madness began.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s never a smooth or easy road for creatives, but this is what makes it so incredible. I recently read that female artists don’t always pursue their art because of the pressures of being mothers and finding time to explore their creative side. As a single mother, my art isn’t always my priority, but I am lucky enough that my passion hasn’t dimmed and my son doesn’t mind paint supplies taking over our home.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I believe we are all creative beings… It’s just a matter of slowing down and discovering our strengths. Mine comes in all shapes and sizes. Anything colorful. I take pride in the quality of work and the uniqueness my colorful pieces bring.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
An art mentor once told me, paint like you’re rich. Waste all the paint, make all the mistakes, and don’t focus on selling. Just focus on creating. This advice was gold.
