Rising Stars: Meet Danielle Gosiaco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Gosiaco.

Hi Danielle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Born and raised in Hawaii, I moved to LA to pursue my fashion design degree. I was always surrounded by art and also fascinated by tattoo work (I got tattooed at a very young age) but it was in LA where I became more intrigued by tattooing and started my interest. I moved back home and got an apprenticeship while putting my design in fashion on hold. I never knew how much I would love tattooing and 12 years later I’ve created a life out of it, co-owning my own studio with Javier Valadez called Beach Park Tattoo. Mother of 2 little girls (8 and 3) I started my own handbag business called Oceans End Hawaii to keep my love for design going. I started Oceans End 7 years ago and it’s been growing and getting bigger since.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Of course, with anything of reward, there will be a struggle. I still remember times when I first started tattooing when I wanted to throw in the towel and say maybe this isn’t for me. I would cry, thinking I wasn’t good enough or ever will be. But with a strong support system and the drive of a Capricorn lol I Stuck with it and kept going. The same goes for Oceans End, it’s hard to build a business from the ground up while being a mom but I look at how far I’ve come and I think it’s just the beginning. With all the growth and small successes, I still go through some rough patches but it keeps me hungry to keep going and push through. There’s always so much to learn and work on. You have to enjoy the journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Tattooing: I’m known for my illustrative work which includes my floral work and lady’s heads. I’m really proud that I could create art that people love which has allowed me to be booked out over 6 months in advance and for the type of work I love to design. A lot of my clients give me big areas to work on and sometimes don’t even see their design until the day of. Their trust in my work really humbles me.

Oceans End hawaii is my handbag line made up mostly of handbags, accessories , home goods and a small amount of apparel.  It’s known for its nature inspired hues and embossed prints of palms and monsteras on our vegan leather.  All the designs are very limited and once they sell out that’s it.  We usually have new designs every season.  We also have an active collection made from recycled polyester that many people love because of its prints and the ability to wash them after they use it, which makes it ideal for people in hawaii and those who love the outdoors. You can find us on Instagram , online on our website below and in many boutiques around hawaii.

What matters most to you? Why?
My children, family, and God matter the most to me. I’m raising two beautiful, smart, and strong girls and want them to see that hard work, faith, love, kindness, and perseverance pay off and that they can also create a life that is fulfilling. With all that, anything you really want in this life can be achieved or attained.
