Hi Denys, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Den Fandera.
I am digital strategist from Ukraine, nowadays based in San Diego, Ca
I work with social media networks and music platforms (YouTube, Spotify, Instagram,
TikTok) creating an algorithm for effective promotion along with music distribution services.
I started my way into music business 15 years ago.
I played the guitar in a band and did my job as a label manager in Ukrainian music company
15 years we didn’t use Spotify or Apple music and we passed cassettes and CDs to each other for discover new music
Then, at the age of 18, I was hired by a music company where I worked for 10 years and gained a huge knowledge base and experience.
I found a period when digital tools began to actively gain popularity and began to use them in my work.
I was immersed in the world of music. I worked with artists as a manager and digital strategist, and at the same time applied new skills in my work and in the band where I played.
Nowadays the music world is accelerating its digital transformation. During last years, the number of independent artists posting music and videos on digital platforms and engaging fans through social media have exploded.
As a market trend, we expect that by 2030 that 90% of recorded music revenues will be digital.
To stand out from an increasing competition on these platforms and to drive music discovery, independent artists need more and more services & attention but still want to remain in control of their music and their career.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I started my way in the music business from the bottom, but I was given a chance and I did not miss it; I studied with great artists and producers.
I watched them and absorbed the information.
The main principle for me was to always take the most difficult tasks and try to complete them.
Did I make a mistake? Yes, sure
But the only way I could get to where I am now

My way in music industry started in 2008. I was a part of one of the famous Ukrainian rock band “Detach.”
We played on the same stages with “Linkin Park,”
“Evanescence,” “The Cure,” “The Rasmus,” “Skillet.” Our rock band went through “X-factor Show” as a super finalist. So, as an artist I got a lot of experience and I know how artists feel and what they really need.
When I started working as an artists manager and a digital strategist in the music company, I could combine my knowledge in different directions, like music management, digital promotion, and distribution.
Also, I worked as a line producer/event manager.
