Today we’d like to introduce you to Derick Johnson
Hi Derick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve had a love for music my whole life. I’ve always loved Hip Hop music & general, which led me to want to pursue a career in the music industry. I currently make/sell beats while building my in-home recording studio that will be open for sessions in 2021. I came from a good foundation. I never went through a struggle. But I want other people in this world to understand that just because you don’t come from struggle does not mean you don’t have a story. Everyone has a story. My music name is D.Staycoolin.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most definitely have come through roadblocks. Unfortunately, when you’re in this field, you have to base your music on trending and what people want to listen to. Also, it’s not always easy making beats. Sometimes you get “producer block” which causes a huge delay. To perfect your art/craft.

I make beats. Any genre, but Hip Hop/Trap music is where my heart is. But I make R&B beats as well. I’m currently teaching myself how to mix & master songs to start recording artists in my home studio. Many local artists have a dream to be in the industry, so my goal is to turn their vision into reality. I’m most proud of currently working with local artist, we all uplift each other & motivate to make dope content for listeners. Most producers only specialize in producing. I know how to make beats, song write, & rap!

Most people don’t know that I actually love Country music! Don’t get me wrong. I love my Hip Hop Music! But something about Country music really puts me in a good head space musically!
