Today we’d like to introduce you to Douglas Johnson.
Hi Douglas, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Alabama in a town 1 mile square with 7 churches. I played the piano and sang in the church as boys in my area did NOT dance. We grew up with not enough money, but so much love surrounded me. I grew up with my Aunt Pauline, my Grandparents, and another aunt & uncle, and our own little compound.
My first paying job was at Six Flags over GA. I had been hired by Macy’s as a Jr. Executive, making more money than anyone in my little family. 2 years later, I quit my job to work in the Crystal Pistol Show at Six Flags Over GA. My family’s shocked thought for sure I had ruined my life. They were blown away when they came to see me in the show asking how did I ever learn to do all of that dancing.
I worked all the time in Atlanta and got amazing theater training at THE ALLIANCE theater. One of my directors there was directing a show in Long Beach, CA. He called to say that a dancer had hurt themselves and I had a job if I wanted it. So off to California, I went. I met one of my best friend’s legendary diver, Greg Louganis, as he was the male lead in our production of Cinderella.
I did multiple shows at this theater and used it as my jumping-off point for my move to California. After having a career in TV, FILM, and countless corporate and social events, wearing many hats as a performer, choreographer, and finally director, I hung up my performing shoes and started Entertainment Plus Productions.

Building your own company is always a struggle. Step by step, day by day, trying to grow a company takes the help of an army of people. We are where we are today because of so many amazing people. Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
My world is not about this question. We are all about life experiences to learn and grow. We do keep up with all fashion magazines to help us stay fresh and current with what seems couture. HOWEVER, our clients demand the very best, what’s fresh, what’s new, what’s never been seen before. We have to set trends not follow them.
