Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Incrocci
Hi Elizabeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey into photography started from a place of deep passion for capturing the moments that tell a story. Growing up, I was the “family historian” in my close-knit Irish family, always behind the camera at family gatherings, documenting everything from simple moments to monumental milestones. That love for storytelling through images grew into a desire to pursue photography professionally, and I’ve never looked back.
I always had a strong desire to be my own boss, and so, I worked to build a client base. I got creative, donating packages to local nonprofits, using platforms like Groupon, and reaching out to businesses in my community to expand my network. Networking played a huge role in growing my business, as I quickly realized that building relationships—whether with clients, other professionals, or community members—was key to success.
Eventually, I took the leap into full-time photography and embraced the freedom that came with being a self-employed business owner. But it was the news of impending motherhood that really changed everything. It gave me new perspective and strength, reminding me of the value of what I was doing and reinforcing my commitment to creating a business that would allow me to balance work and family life. It was also during this time that I discovered how much of an impact photography could have—not just in capturing moments but in building meaningful relationships with families, business owners, and everyone I worked with.
Through all of this, one thing has remained constant: my belief that photography is more than just a job; it’s a way to document and preserve life’s most meaningful moments. Elizabeth Ireland Photography was built on a foundation of empathy, adaptability, and a commitment to forging genuine relationships with clients. It’s been so rewarding to help people preserve their stories, whether it’s through family portraits, milestone events, or documenting significant life changes. Each client I work with becomes more than just a subject—they become part of a larger, shared journey, and that’s something I truly cherish.
Looking back, I see every challenge, every setback, and every success as an important part of my story. What started as a passion for photography has blossomed into a thriving business centered around capturing not only images but moments that hold meaning for generations. Today, I feel incredibly fortunate to do what I love, to work with amazing people, and to know that my photography has the power to leave a lasting legacy in their lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey to where I am today has been anything but easy, but every challenge has played an essential role in shaping my path and igniting my passion for photography. From a young age, I dreamed of attending the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography—a goal I set for myself as early as middle school. I worked tirelessly to make that dream a reality, and the day I was accepted felt like the first step toward my future. At Brooks, I immersed myself in the art and science of photography, honing my craft and building the confidence to pursue it as a career.
However, life had other plans. Midway through my studies, the school lost its accreditation and, with it, its funding. Suddenly, everything I had worked toward felt uncertain. At the time, I was already juggling multiple jobs, and taking on more wasn’t an option. Faced with this unexpected setback, I made the difficult decision to move back home to San Diego. Though disheartened, I refused to let this detour define me.
Back home, I took a job at a private country club. What started as a way to make ends meet became an unexpected turning point in my journey. Building rapport with club members led to opportunities to photograph their families and events. These connections laid the foundation for what would eventually become my business. Each new client helped me build my portfolio, gain hands-on experience, and refine my ability to connect with people through my work.
Over the years, I poured my heart into growing Elizabeth Ireland Photography. Through persistence, networking, and leveraging the relationships I had cultivated, I built a thriving client base and began to see the fruits of my labor. Today, I am proud to work with three magazines, have been featured in numerous publications, and have the privilege of working with my dream clients—capturing their most meaningful moments.
One of the most transformative chapters of my life came when I found out I was going to be a mom. It was a moment of pure joy that forever changed my perspective. Motherhood brought a new sense of purpose, clarity, and determination. I realized that I could build a business that not only fulfilled me creatively but also allowed me to prioritize my family. This balance empowered me to take my company to new heights while being present for life’s most important moments.
While the road hasn’t always been smooth, I am grateful for every twist and turn. The setbacks, triumphs, and life-changing milestones have shaped me into the photographer and business owner I am today. From chasing a childhood dream to navigating the joys and challenges of motherhood, every experience has been a chapter in my story—and I wouldn’t change a single moment.
