Hi Emily, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Back in 2019 I started posting on my plant/home decor Instagram with more intention on what was back then just a blog I had as a hobby. By 2020 I launched my first product for my plant care line because I knew there was an opportunity in the plant space with the growing popularity during COVID. Classy Casita started off as a space for plant lovers but quickly grew into a larger community of like-minded people who want to create a happy home and lifestyle. Classy Casita is all about finding inspiration and creating your sanctuary and safe space; whether that’s through house plant care, home decorating, or self-care. My online shop consists of plant care and home decor products, and I also share a blog with helpful and inspirational articles. The Plantitas collection can actually be found in various plant shops around the US, Canada, and Europe and as top sellers on Amazon.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but usually things that are worth it takes some obstacles and challenges to overcome. The main challenge has to be dealing with issues on my own if it ever gets too hectic. Since I not only have an e-commerce business but I am also a lifestyle content creator, it can be a little tough when trying to wear multiple hats, but loving what I do and receiving positive feedback from others is truly what helps me get through tough times. Another challenge I face is keeping up with my ideas. Since I create and edit all of my own content, I never seem to find enough hours in the day to feel completely caught up. There will always be a new trend that you want to hop on before it’s no longer relevant, or if you utilize multiple social media platforms like I do (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), then you know there are many little things you need to do for each piece of content. It is all mostly fun because I love the creative process, but sometimes I wish there were two of me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Classy Casita, a plant care & home decor blog/brand. I am a 28-year-old latinx blogger known for her positive, inspirational, and motivational posts on social media (at least that’s the feedback I receive from my followers).
I am most proud of the fact that I have been able to provide a comfortable and fulfilling life for myself by doing something that I love. Growing up I was always the shy girl with no confidence, and social media has truly helped me grow my confidence by sharing multiple aspects of my life like my daily routines, my home, travels, and business endeavors. It also makes me so proud to be the hard worker that I am because every day I am reached out to on social media by other young women telling me my content has motivated them to start their own blog, start their own business, or something as simple as motivating them to go to the gym.
What’s next?
My e-commerce business plans for this year is launching some new products for my plant care line and add some products to fit my personal brand such a t-shirts and other merch. I’m also planning on focusing more on my content creating and hopefully start a new big project that will help me grow my audience.
