Rising Stars: Meet Faith Beyer of 4S Ranch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Beyer

Faith, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Faith Beyer, I am a Registered Nurse and San Diego native, born and raised. I studied and got my BSN in Texas at Texas Christian University, worked as a COVID nurse in Texas, and it was this experience that brought me to my passion in preventative, holistic health and wellness. I spent a lot of time doing nutrition education for cases like new diabetes diagnoses, and quickly learned nutrition education is a largely lacking area that nurses can help serve in. I started workin in a dermatology setting, and began an online platform to supplement the treatments I was doing in a clinic setting. I realized that through people aiming to improve their skin and appearance, they would benefit best from starting within. This idea of Radiant Health, from the inside out was born. I now work with Top San Diego Dermatologist Dr. Anne Truitt, a fellowship trained Mohs surgeon. I do laser and aesthetic procedures, while taking the holistic approach to help individuals improve their mental and physical wellbeing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
COVID nursing was my first big challenge in the nursing field. I felt helpless in a way, with the hours required of me and the short staffed nature of my hospitals. Working in an outpatient setting has allowed me to have more time with patients. In addition, working 8 hour shifts over 12 hour shifts, allowed me to do something before or after work for myself, which makes me a better provider for my patients. This is something I hope we can improve for all healthcare workers, in offering better schedules so that we can have healthy people taking care of people in need.

Another difficult navigation in the modern healthcare space is the use of social media and how to navigate that for myself and patients. I always put a lot of care and thought into high quality, data backed health information to share on my accounts. Nurses are trained to educate, so I love that part. I do find it difficult to constantly debunk bad health information online, but that comes with the territory. Learning to have good health education filters on our media viewing is going to be essential for staying health in modern times.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do regenerative and rejuvenative skin procedures. I work with Top San Diego Dermatologist Dr. Anne Truitt, who is a also a Top Mohs Skin Cancer Surgeon. Together along with PA Elise Teteleman, we help prevent skin cancer and help patients feel their best from the inside out.

After working in General Surgery, Woundcare, and now Dermatology I have seen firsthand just how much the skin displays our internal health, externally. I have also seen the major impact it has on our mental health. I put a focus on nutrition, stress management, movement as medicine, and time for enjoyment and connection. These are the components that will make up not just a long life, but a quality, well lived one.

What sets me apart from other forms of nursing is my focus on enabling others to improve their health without the use of our healthcare system. In a way, I want to teach them everything I know will keep them out of the hospital. I want people to live full lives and enjoy their passions. My personal favorite passion is offshore fishing, especially here in San Diego. For 10 years I have been enjoying tuna fishing and other species in between off our coast. I know that my dedication to nutrition and movement will help me enjoy that activity with my loved ones for as long as I can.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My Dad has always made me feel like I can do anything. It’s never a matter of if I will do something, but rather how I will do it. Together, with my amazing Mom who we lost to colon cancer in 2017, they raised me to be hard working and confident enough to go my own path with my nursing career. My boyfriend Reilly, my grandparents, my brother, and a very long list of family and friends are all my biggest cheerleaders whom I am so thankful for. They have been showing up and supporting me my entire life. This is also why I believe that good friends and a support system are also among the most important things that we need for our health.
